Look up Republic Wireless it is similar but also has cheaper plans as low as $5 last time to check.

Ah, that makes a bit more sense... How long are you tethering for though? I don't find myself doing it for more than a couple of hours a day on the train? I scarcely use more than 100mb on a busy day! What happened to broadband guys?

They now have new plans. For instance the "Tall" plan, is still $18.99/month, you still get 500mb of data but at 3G/4G speeds and it's unlimited data at 2G speeds. You get unlimited calling AND texting as well. So the deal is even better NOW than when the video was made.

What's the interface like for the TextNow phones? Do you have to use the app in order to get texts or make calls, or will it route to the standard Android apps for messaging and calling? Did any accessories come in the packaging (like a charger)? Their site mentions that returns have to include all accessories, but they don't state anywhere if or what accessories are included.

Ok I have an iPod touch 5th gen and it works now why I have credits with text now,like I can call and text people just fine, but will it work the same way on 3G or 4G if I purchase a plan?

Okay service but calls do drop occasionally and bad connection occassionally. You get what you pay for. I do have a complaint however, I paid for a galaxy s4 which would not hold a charge they have a 30 day money back well they don't tell you it takes up to 30 days to also get your money refunded. So beware of purchasing more expensive phones from them.

I needed to switch to a low cost phone service since I kept running out of minutes on my previous service and it was costing a fortune to ad more. The TextNow plans looks great on paper (on-line in this case), but the Sprint coverage sucks in my area. Apparently, the whole service operates in the cloud as it appears that nothing is stored on my device. If I miss a phone call and try to return the call, the phone dials up a 406 area code number, no matter what the number was that shows as the missed call. Then it always answers with a recorded message that says that the party I've called is unavailable at this time. Ironically, the number missed can be my own home phone which I can be sitting at when I try to return the missed call! If it isn't connected to the net, I have no contacts, email, or messages. When I attempt to make a call, it often gets confused and wants to call the last number I dialed; even when I punched in the number directly. It is often difficult to even answer an incoming call!. With the screen locked, every time I open the screen, or reactivate it, the phone automatically opens Google window and wants to perform a web search. That is frustrating as hell and even the support folks could not tell me how to disable that annoying feature. This is supposed to be a fast phone (Nexus S 4G) but it takes 2-3 seconds to respond to any key entry. I can't stand the unreliability of this TextNow phone service! I'm forced to look elsewhere for another low-cost phone service.

That's really sad Richard, I think the tech'ies need to get back to the drawing board on this one!! You need a reliable phone service,have you tried AARP'S product, Cuz'n Maryanne says she has been reading up on some info, give her a call...good luck with that...there are other low cost cell phone services arnd...Unfortunately owning a cell phone & the plans are extremely expensive, I'm with Verizon & own the Samsung Galaxy S/5,my current plan costs me an average of $120 per month,that's pretty sad but I do have a reliable phone & services, good luck in finding something that works for you:))

If you're in the UK, there is a really good offer from virgin. Unlimited data+text+calls for only 15£ on a 1month rolling contract. You can cancel anytime but this is SIM only.

I just bought a phone a month ago and now it's digitizer won't work, my mom, my brother, even my mom's boyfriend won't even help, now all i have is a ipod with a broken screen and a phone that i have no people to talk to on since i don't even have their numbers nor people to talk to, i have tried so hard to get my phone replaced, no dice, all happened in a month... Nice Review!! I want to win!!! Also Austin not sure if you know, but their is also another wireless carrier called FreedomPop that has the basic service for absolutely free! You can also bring in your own android phone too! It also uses Sprint's Service as well.

If you're a big data user, and don't talk a lot, you should check out T-Mobile's $30 Plan. For $30/month prepaid, you get 5GB of 4G data which after 5GB switches to "unlimited" 2G, unlimited texting, and 100 minutes. T-Mobile's service usually does pretty well in cities, but doesn't do too well in rural areas, where you'll usually have almost full bars, but only EDGE data.

I tried freedom pop they are a waste of time. So I am on text now. I have to say when you have a good signal like Wi-Fi it is great crystal clear. But when you are out on the 3g-4g you have problems like poor voice quality dropped calls etc. I live in a good sprint area and never had any problems like this with sprint. also have problems making calls over Bluetooth in my car. I can deal with most of that for the price but there are other issues. low or no dial tone you never know when its ringing someone. your volume for some reason is reduced in half even though you set the phone all the way up. the paid service is no better than the free service so I may switch back to the free

to enable voice calling in chrome go to chrome settings privacy content settings microphone mangage exceptions then Adobe Flash Player microphone exceptions are different. Change click change and click on both text now switch it to always allow hit done to save done now u cn make calls of ur pc or mac useing chrome extention app text now
