I bought two of these phones for my kids as I wanted an affordable service and the service is terrible in Oklahoma, Texas and Florida where we used them. The cellular signal is non-existant and my kids can never place phone calls or receive them. In the rare case that I can reach them and talk to them, the quality of the voice is so muffled that we cannot understand each other. What? WHAT? is most of our conversations. I now have to switch to AT&T and buy two phones and I am stuck with these useless phones. I wish I had paid attention to the MANY negative reviews you can find online for the same call quality and no network service issues. In addition, the phones CONSTANTLY (pretty much non-stop) ask you to buy more internet gigabytes with a huge annoying red banner which is incredibly distracting and aggravating. My kids are thoroughly disappointed about TEXTNOW and are begging me to change carriers. Do yourselves a favor and DO NOT BUY THIS SERVICE. The phones are also useless with ANY OTHER cell phone carrier in the USA. You have been warned! Thank you.

I have downloaded and used the free Text Now app in the past as a secondary phone number but I just got with TextNow and I choose the smallest plan which is good enough for me because I have WiFi at home anyway and I don't really use data outside of my WiFi.. this is the cheapest prepaid phone company I have found.. I chose the LG Tribute 2 with a great price of $15

There even a $4.00 a year plan. That what I’m using. It has no data nor a hotspot. You still have unlimited talk and text. The phone number doesn’t change until next year.

+arima arner I'm sure you've figured this out by now, but for any one else that reads this, it's free. meaning you pay nothing to TextNow for the texting and calling, however if you're using it on your verizon data plan rather than WiFi, if you have a data cap, you will end up paying A LOT for any overages. so keep that in mind as it does use your cellular data or WiFi to send/receive text, make calls, get calls, and check voicemail!

google does similar plans with project except the 500mb lol FreedomPop has similar plans too. but like you said if Sprint coverage isn't all that great in the area, might want to stay away. at least Google was a little smarter by adding T-Mobile alongside with Sprint. otherwise I would just stayed with FreedomPop. I still have it tho. lol its free. lol but yeah idk tho.

Yeah, it does. And you get unlimited calling to US and Canada, the ability to receive calls on the number you chose for free from them, unlimited texting, etc.

to enable voice calling in chrome go to chrome settings privacy content settings microphone mangage exceptions then Adobe Flash Player microphone exceptions are different. Change click change and click on both text now switch it to always allow hit done to save done now u cn make calls of ur pc or mac useing chrome extention app text now

It's not illegal if its in the long terms of agreement contract that everyone agrees to and never reads. Its more than likely they make you agree to receive those solicitation emails in order to receive services. How did your case turn out?

TextNow sucks, I can't believe I bought the Moto X on their service. It's taking them damn near a month to refund me back my money (they said it takes about 20 days) and the service is terrible in South Florida. I keep getting calls from random numbers and their app has a lot of noise when I make calls. They make it almost impossible to make calls via the native dialer so you basically have to use their app if you want to place calls. When you call customer service it takes forever for them to put you through to a rep so you can have them call you back or wait about an hour to speak with someone. I can't wait to go back to Republic Wireless, they also lease Sprint's network and their service is nothing like how it is with TextNow. Republic even refunds you back the difference if you don't use all of your data or you cancel the service early PLUS you don't have to talk to anybody to cancel your service. Only downside is they have only 2 phones to choose from that cost a lot compared to the price you pay for phones on TextNow.
