27:01 Concluding Remarks
So here's a video with a bunch of quick tips and tricks to step up your piano and keyboard playing. I don't go into detail on any one tip which lets me cram a bunch of them in there, hoping they will inspire you!
19 is a funny number - it should have been 30 initially, but the video started getting too long and I had to stop. If you guys like it there will be a part two, and I can already now tell you what it's going to be called: "11 More Must-Know Tips", unless I come up with more tips, which is very likely to happen.

I’ve been doing all this on my own, by ear without knowing chord names at all. Watching this video is the first time I’ve resorted to KZbin and I’ve subscribed.

A'ha! So this is why your channel is named 'Mangold'... Well, although you unintentionally "got stuck" with a name assigned quickly without too-much pre-thought, it suits your channel best, because... Man, this is gold! 🙂 Thanks once more, Assaf. Practical & simple. G-d bless. Shabbat Shalom.

It is certainly not by design, and had initially nothing to do with gold, but with the leaf.

Sir, I am deeply grateful for these beautiful ideas. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Your presentation is so effective that the results & effect on my playing is immediate. I am a beginner, but you have given me the concepts to sound like an advanced beginner or early intermediate player!

Thank you so much for all of your content - it's inspiring me a lot. As an idea for a future video you could talk about some cool and effective pop-licks and fills (in addition to the gospel, jazz and funk licks you already covered) :). Greetings from Germany.

How many hours per day can I practice without losing effiency? Does the brain need rest time to learn all this? Thanks for your great videos by the way!!

You can practice for A LOT, but breaks and rest are very important. I don't know what research has been done on piano in particular, but given what we know about motor learning in general, I'd say 30-60 minute practice sessions with 15 minute breaks in between. Even better, do half your practice time in the morning and half in the evening if you have the flexibility.

Obviously individual, but I've heard professionals tend to hit a wall at like 4 hours\day. Mind you, this is intense practice - like doing math for 4 hours. Not an idle brain. The most important element is breaking all of this up into about 20 min increments + 5-20 min breaks. In my case I can "feel" when my brain is "full"\worn out. That's when I'm at capacity for the session. Rest and exercise helps, and spacing it all out across the day (esp if you do some at night before bed) is better than 1 big block. The brain does a lot of background processing as long as you give it time. See pomodoro techniques

Superb lesson. Getting it "under the fingers" is my life time journey though. Any chance you introduce 2-3 funky/jazzy chord progressions to apply all this? Think a video seeing you playing them will significantly help rather than naming them. It's just a wish. Love your content and approach to teaching music.

Is there anyone with a piano video lesson that understands that instrumentals can be played on the piano not just 2 handed accompaniment chords or is everyone afraid of copyright. If you are playing from a fake book the right hand can play the melody leaving the left hand for chords. So show me how you handle the left hand chords while playing the melody on the right. There must be a classical song to play not protected by copy-write. Or maybe there isn’t. Just a thought as I feel this way of playing isn’t covered at all. As well fake books don’t harmonize the right hand so info on how to handle this problem would be appreciated.
