I felt the excitement for the ball. My 18 year old almost deaf cat only plays with one particular kind of ball which has little plastic balls inside of it and it's horrendously loud 🤣 normally he lays down, I kick the ball to him, he kicks it away and I have to go get the ball agian. At this point I am pretty sure he thinks that he is playing with me "Oh no there goes the girl with the ball again. Okay only one round I am tired and then it's enough!" sometimes he even falls asleep on the ball it's pretty cute 🥺

When smelled by the cat, catnip makes them more active and playful, and when eaten, it actually makes them more relaxed and chill! Pretty cool huh. Also every cat has a slightly different reaction to catnip, it effects some cats A LOT and other cats not very much.
