My husband usually overhears me watching your videos. Last night I said that you have chronic fatigue and Fibromyalgia- which his mother also has. 'No way do they have chronic fatigue' was his response. 'They would be in bed like my mom - not making all these videos'. So I had to explain to him all that you say - that you're in bed a lot of the time, you depend on others to help shop and do housework, etc. I can see how you get responses like this from others. I know what it's like to have a chronic illness and have people not believe you how sick you are. I often have people scream at me that I'm parked in handicapped parking because I don't look handicapped - despite using a handicapped parking placard. Keep educating everyone. The more people know, the more they'll understand. Love you guys. ❤️❤️❤️

My mom was the same way..she was permanently disabled when she was in her late 40's, but she still kept her appearance up. I guess if you are considered disabled you need to look like you are homeless or something. Her neurologist was one of the top rated in the country and he often said she should be in a wheelchair..but she persevered..amen sister. God brought you to it he will surely see you through it! The court room was full of demons that day, if you felt it they were there. Sounds to me like it was demons from the prosecuator, I wonder if his life changed that day? I'm glad you are both able to keep up with a few activities that make you happy. Love your show!! Take care :)

I'm on disability. It was a similar situation. It bothered me, because I have had hard jobs in my past. Raised two girls on my own. Didn't ever seek help from government programs. My girls urged me to try for disability. (They are grown and married now) . I made one phone call to SSI. Not expecting anything. They sent me to their own doctors and bam I'm on disability. I just hate the judgmental people that look at me and think I don't look sick. My tax lady did that last time. Makes me ashamed. I'm changing tax ladies this year

I had to fight for my SSD too. I was told that I could no longer do my nursing job because of injuries that I had from the military (a VA doctor told me this). Then I had to deal with social security. In court, I had a similar experience where the disability guy kept saying I could do a canning line job. The judge told him to shut up and gave me the disability. People do not understand that I would much rather be able to work at my old job, with much better pay, than what I get on SSD. I can't even afford the Medicare B insurance payments so I don't have that. Anyway, I too can tell when you are having an off day (from the videos). Also as long as you cannot work a full 40 hour week you should stay on SSD. I enjoy your videos so keep them coming, when you are able and have a good day!

Thanks for sharing your stories & especially for explaining about chronic fatigue. I have CFS/ME running through our family too! I have it + my brother + my middle son + my Dad had it. We've also worked out that both my Dad's Dad & his Dad must have had it too as all 3 of them had to stop working at about age 50 due to extreme fatigue & were in bed a lot!! My Dr hasn't seen a family with soooo many with CFS/ME running through it for generations. The only positive thing about that is that my family understand when I'm too exhausted to manage something. 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨

I agree being in a depressing situation is different from being depressed. Depression or Bipolar depression is a chemical imbalance. You can certainly be depressed about your situation but not be clinically depressed. I have Lupus (one of the first people diagnosed in the early 80's) I can be debilitating but my grandma said "Living with Lupus is better than the alterative!" (Meaning death) She wad right. I just keep trying. I am now 54 years old and a Mom, wife and nurse. You just keep going and work on a work rest routine. Great video.

I fell down a flight of stairs at work and not only physically injured myself (neck, knees, back) I also got a right brain injury. Couldnt read, still cant do math, get lost easily. I got Disability on my first try. You have to have so much paperwork and other crazy stuff to show how bad off you are. To LOOK at me you think there is nothing wrong. TO TALK with me I seem OK.. But people who have known me before the brain injury can tell there is a problem. I get up every day and try to make something good happen. I dont complain. I particpiate as much as possible with my family and friends and with Church. I go with the Minister to visit shut-ins and nursing home patients. Some days are good, other days not so good. But I put a smile on my face, comb my hair and get dressed. I am so blessed in so many ways that a few bad days arent a big problem.

Thanks for sharing your story. I understand how hard it is to get disability, after becoming homeless with 3 kids i got on disability because of my health and the doctor said I couldn't work. But it only ssi, cause I didn't work my husband went into the military so I followed him around and it was hard for me to find a job. But I did work some but he wanted me to stay home once I start having kids. Now I find out a year later after getting accepted for disability that I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue they've tried to take it away from me twice which I had a light stroke of the stress of them taking it away I am going to be probably tested again soon but lawyer said once you get disability they have to prove that you're unfit to have it and you can go back to work I am 60 years old and my doctor said there's no way I can hold down a job I have bad kidneys can't control my bowels at times cause I have Crohn's disease. Yes i definitely don't make very much. I tell people all the time unless you have to do it this way it is better to be working cause I would better work than to scrape by at times but God provides in the end.now I find out i need a knee replacement done. Enjoy the video.

Thank you so much! I told my husband that THIS (your discussion about being depressed vs being in a depressing situation) is why I got so pissed off when our doctor diagnosed me with depression. I wasn't depressed. Yes, I had emotional instability, but I was never bed bound or anything like that. I still worked, successfully, every day. We had a family of 7, and I did everything. No one else cleaned anything... seriously! I wasn't depressed, I was angry. So thank you for explaining the difference.

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia first over 10 years ago and then cfs. I truly believe the medical profession knows more abt it than they want us to believe. It does run in families. Hope u guys are doing well after the holidays. I’m taking it easy for a few days. Disability makes it hard for people with these conditions because they are invisible illnesses for the most part. Hard to prove. That’s awesome u were able to get approved.

You are not alone. I have a Lyme co-infection which there is no cure for, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and several digestive disorders. I had to leave my job, which I loved, at a local water district in July of 2014. I took a 6 month leave to see if I would get well enough to go back to work, but I just got worse. I applied for SSDI in Dec. of 2014. They turned me down. I got a lawyer and had a hearing last May. They again turned me down. I am now 60 years old and have been working since I was 17 years old but that doesn't matter. They sent me a letter saying I was well enough to stand for 7 hours a day and that I could lift 50 lbs. I couldn't life 50 lbs before I got sick. They also claim that I told them I was running a soap making business, which isn't true. I had a soap making business and had to close it due to being unwell. They asked me for all my employment for the past15 years so I told them about the soap shop. They sent me to their doctor who looked at my husband and said "who is she trying to kid?" It was a horrible experience. It wasn't even a real doctors office. Just a couple rooms in a not so nice office building. There wasn't even a sink in the exam room. I was having a lot of pain that day and came into the office limping. My lawyer was livid when the decision came back. We are appealing, but by the time that goes through (sometime in 2019 if I am lucky) it will be 5 years since I applied and about 10 years that I have been unwell. If I wanted to rip off the system, I would have not waited until I was in my late 50's and early 60s to do it. It is terrible what they put people through nowadays.
@brendahardin2066 жыл бұрын

Gosh that sounds super creepy! You know I really do think that someday people will have to see/feel/live from the perspective of every person you've ever interacted with when we die. I'm sure that guy is gonna have to feel quite a bit of nasty stuff because he will get to see everything and feel everything from your perspective, what he made you feel. I know that government "assistance" isn't some great pay day. A single mother I know lost her job when the business closed unexpectedly. She tried to get Food Stamps, just to get by until she can get new job. They offered her $24 a month. If she was really careful, that would feed her family for what, 4-5 days? I have yet to meet someone living the good life on assistance.
@brendahardin2066 жыл бұрын
Kory O. If she don't find work she needs to reapply each month ,because things change n she should get more per month depending on her past n present income ,no income,more food stamps.

You do not need to explain, you have a debilitating illness that at any time can flare up and you may end up where you can not get out of bed and that is why you qualify for your disability payments. Anyone watching your videos can see when you are having a bad day, or we can see you start a video and in under an hour see you fade and how you are barely able to keep it together . I see it knowing that as soon as your video ends you are down and out. It is the nature of the illness and you attempting to get thru a 45 min video shows what grit you have.

Have you looked at Ehlers Danlos Syndrome at all? There are several types, I would look at the hypermobile type, also called Joint Hypermobility Syndrome. 90% of people go undiagnosed, as doctors are not familiar with it, they instead get diagnosed with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, just like my mum and sister did, and it is genetic, but they have not found the gene for hypermobile type yet, so many people with it end up on disability, if they can actually get it, my sister managed to get it, but my mum could not. I have it as well, but it can present differently in each person. Once you know you have it, you can take steps to help manage it yourself, I found it very helpful to know, when we found out our family had it a few years ago.

I have Fibro, and because of my Dwarfism, I had low energy, My Dwarfism was corrected height wise, related issues not so much, I have life time asthma, never smoked, or drank, i have bad anemia, I went to disability at 25, and they turned me down, my asthma was so severe coupled with anemia, and they turned me down again, so I worked 90 hours a week from 1962- 2004, then I cared for my mom in a wheel chair, I carried her to the car to take her to dialysis three times a week for over 5 years in 2001 she passed away, I moved, and the next year I had two lung surgeries, then I got on disability because I had too, but I had to work full time while I waited 6 months for it, every penny of 400k paid for 2 lung surgeries, and 3 months later I received medicare. I get $1327. and out of that I save $427 a month. save for a roof, or a furnace, and other major repairs. I spend $80.00 a month on food, and $10.00 is for stocking up this week I got ten cans of petite diced tomatoes for $4.44, and 9 cans of tomato paste for $5.31 at Publix.
