For those wondering, the company has nothing to do with the German automobile manufacturer. It stands for Björneborgs Mekaniska Werkstad. A Finnish company that made different foundry based products at the end of the 19th century, into the 20th.

Here in Bergen we had BMV - Bergens Mekaniske Verksted. Since it's pronounced the same as BMW in Norwegian, it could sometimes get confusing.

I spent the first half of my career in the restaurant industry and have cooked thousands of steaks. If you like your steaks cooked to “medium”, you did an excellent job. And extra credit for turning the steak just once! Oh… and the pan restoration was fantastic, too! Cheers from Ohio! 👍👍👍

There are sandblasting businesses you could contact. I went to one nearby to sandblast a rimlock and keeper, and a dutch oven. Only cost $50.

You could try larger auto paint shops. Most will have equipment for surface prep such as dry ice blasters.

The concept of a restoration channel is pretty smart because its an endless cycle. After a few videos you can basically start over by restoring the stuff from your first videos.

I love cooking in cast iron skillets and know a little about their history. That line on the back of the skillet is called a gate mark, which is a leftover of the casting process. That process was generally abandoned around 1890, so you know this skillet was made no later than that.

Nice job on the rusty and crusty pan. You might want to winnow the rust with a magnet. Some of that stuff looked more like organic residue to me. That steak looked thoroughly legal to me. I'm SO hungry now!
