1920 Lister Q Type Restoration Part 10 - Flywheels

Firstly, I must apologise for the awful voice over at the end of this video, I have not been very well and it has affected my voice, but not putting a vice over wouldn’t have made that bit of the video make any sense!
This weeks episode is on the cleaning, fitting and even a little cheeky try at getting it going!
You will notice that we lift the flywheels on, then off again, I had thought that I had gotten the centres clean enough but it appears not so had to endure lifting each of the 150ish kg flywheels off again…..
Went for a start seen as the flywheels are on and Ive some help for the first attempt! As they can take some coaxing into life! I did have to get the Mrs to help out with a little Easy Start to try get something out of it and thanks to Alex (the brother in law) for his help again with some lifting!
Next weeks will be the first start and run of then engine….. this is a MUST to tune in to!!

Thanks again Bob! I hope so too as most my collection are as big and heavy as this! I must admit it was rather frustrating that it wouldn’t go and there was a few choice words that I cut out of the video near the end 🤣

just found your channel , i have just bought a air cooled single 6hp diesel lister was powering a boat .it still has the gear box and the plan it in the summer to build a drive shaft and cut a hole in the garage wall and then power the milling machine .not sure what next door will think but who cares

Thanks for joining! It sounds like you will have many hours of fun with that! Sod the neighbours! HAHA I often run mine on the drive and with the garage doors open, it’s not every night or weekend so they are quite understanding. A good silencer on the exhaust can make the difference between a happy and a grumpy neighbours!

good entertainment , used more petrol trying to start that , that would run my H all day, and a do it yourself beard trimmer also,

Yes, it isn’t the most efficient way of getting them started that is for sure! You don’t realise how frugal a H type is compared to one of these! Haha
