You really nailed this aesthetic! With regards to the mirror, I always think those pieces that look like they are from an older era, they actually lend authenticity to the era you are trying to replicate - because it’s really only in the 21st century that people seem to want to do a clean sweep of their homes when redecorating. My British great-grandparents and grandparents favored a very pronounced streamline moderne aesthetic in their kitchen, but it was nuanced with older, treasured bits. Overlapping eras make your aesthetic look a genuinely historic home, as opposed to a stage set.

For anyone wanting to paint or wall paper their refrigerator, most fridge doors are designed to come off with just a screwdriver. This makes it much easier to carry to your work area and/or work more ergonomically. You can also switch the direction in which the doors open to make it more convenient for your space. Fancier fridges might not have this option but the ubiquitous white rental fridge usually does!

I love art deco and I think your area looks amazing. I love the green paint color and the gold highlights really bring it together. Utilizing some of what you already owned is key to people learning how to blend new with old. To recycle a previously owned item, into a new atmosphere, helps encourage others to do the same. Less waste and a great way to save money.

Believe it or not, we decorated this way in the 80's. I loved Art Deco style and when it started going out in the 90's, people were left with all this gold hardware on doors and cabinets and gem tones painted on their walls. There were a lot of curves and soft lines in the furniture. But alas times changed and so did decorating tastes. Now here it comes back again! Embrace your favorite style and don't worry about the trends...That's the lesson I've learned now that I'm a lot older. (I still love Art Deco and the color "teal". ;-)

A vintage milk glass schoolhouse pendant in a Deco shape would look phenomenal in there. I'd paint the piece on the opposite wall (the candleholder) gold. I actually liked the gold velvet curtain. You said it looked too circus-y but I always associate the 20s.and 30s with circuses (think "Water For Elephants" aesthetic.)

The very best one thing you did, besides the entire composition? The pattern YOU conceived and drew on the wall -- chef's kiss to your talent. Only so you know: The ceiling light fixture is called a Sputnik, it's from the 60's, and a. Cross-pollinating decade-to-decade is something the best designers do all the time, and, b. It's form goes beautifully w the 1920's look. Also: I'm on less firm ground here, but: Generally, L-brackets are 180° and they're attached to the shelf from the bottom w screws short enough not to penetrate the shelf, but long enough to get a good grip.

Unlike the wealthy, normal folk can’t usually afford to do a clean sweep, so there would usually have been items from previous eras. I really love so much about your design choices. I’m working on an Art Deco bedroom and was planning to do a similar idea behind the bed with a stencil, but at the top of the wall. I may reconsider doing the full wall after seeing how you did yours. I may try doing the use of cardboard, instead of the rather expensive stencil. I’m really impressed with how you changed the pattern on the sides. I’m going to rethink the whole wall now. I found your video, since KZbin suggested it and “Art Deco” caught my eye. I’m going to subscribe.

Beautiful makeover. I’m wondering though, if a clear acrylic (thin) strip of.molding at the top of your painted wall, where the green pain meets the white ceiling would give the ceiling a more tailored look? I know that the eye rarely goes up that far, but sometimes it does, and a black or gold molding might give it a “boxed” look. We inherited ceiling molding in our very small space, and I’m now the biggest fan of putting molding in that space rather than leaving it blank. But, everything else is great!

Yay! Someone someone sharing their Art Deco-inspired space. Interesting that Hunt Club made your space feel smaller. I think dark colors make walls recede more than shrink, as a general rule. I think it's what it's paired with that changes that effect, so suspect the white on the walls, ceiling, cabinets, stove, and floor contribute to that. Enjoy those stencil designs. I've seen that green/teal shell wallpaper in circulation, and came across a gorgeous kitchen refurbishment that had it on their ceiling. What software did you use to make your room mockups? That said, our entire basement remodel has an Art Deco color influence, due to hubby wanting an Art Deco inspired theatre room. Our hall is a dark teal (20% lighter mix of SW Cascades,) and it doesn't feel smaller at all, just more moody. The walls and ceiling both have the color on it, mainly due to all the jutting edges from I-beams, ductwork, and plumbing running through the ceiling. The trim is red oak stained with General Finishes Hickory, and the doors are stained the same. The flooring is engineered cork planks in a similar hue. The teal and wood look beauteous together, and create a feel like a theatre foyer. If anything, the hall feels longer, and the unattractive ceiling edges are far, far less noticeable. Since I'm a color junky, I'll share the rest of the colors we chose. All are SW Emerald Matte, or BM regal select matte. The Behr is whatever their highest grade flat paint is. Theatre: SW Tricorn Black (front walls, ceiling, baseboards, and tray ceiling,) SW Folkstone (middle and rear ceiling,) BM Peatmoss for rear walls (where the kitchenette/concession stand will be,) and Behr Ultra Pure White for screen. Let me state right now that Peatmoss has a wonderfully deep Art Deco vibe. It's a challenge to find examples of it in use, but to my mind's eye, it's related to brick, but is toned down with a grey-red-violet base. SW office: walls BM dupe of FB Paean Black, ceiling BM Sea Froth. The FB dupe aged the space as soon as the second coat was on. Our house is a 1960's ranch, with the main floor staying truer to its decade. Many of the walls are brush stomped on main floor, and basement; when combined with this black plum hue the basement office feels like another era, even with the trim being original to the house's construction. Btw, we had to replace the baseboard, due to foundation & wall work that was done. It was hard to salvage. Sea Froth is a very light mauve, not white, and creates contrast without being harsh. Hall: SW Cascades 20%. NW office: walls SW Dried Thyme, ceiling SW Shoji White. Like you, it took my husband a number of tries to find the wall colour. He chose one, lived with it for a few months, decided it wasn't the right one, and the search resumed. Something similar happened with the ceiling hue, but was a more immediate change. Flooring: theater Amorim Identity Nightshade, hall & offices Amorim Identity Chestnut. Theatre baseboard is a tall, sawtooth style, like the 1262 ornamental moulding one can find on Home Depot's website. It's could very well be the same, just through a different vendor. We haven't tackled the bath yet, and we haven't changed any of the hardware on the doors. Just changing the colors everywhere made the metal finishes transform. Going to paint swatches in bathroom between now and New Years. In the areas tackled, we used a ton of HUE lights, so we can control the colors, brightness, plus have the theatre lights automatically dim or brighten whenever someone sits to watch something. Will bring in desk lamps into offices, and are casually searching for wall sconces for theatre. Thanks so much for sharing!

I'm definitely going to look up some of these paint colors, paint has been a real struggle for me since I finally have had the opportunity to use it. I can tell you put a lot of detail into making your space perfect. I love that you kept the red oak trim, sounds so beautiful with the color combinations you mentioned. I use procreate on my iPad for my mockups! I'm sure there is a much easier way I just don't know what it is 🤣 If you were looking for some Art Deco wall sconces, I found some really good ones on Amazon that are battery operated (they are pricey IMO but good option if you don't want to hardwire or have available sockets for plug ins) amzn.to/3RZzmc0 amzn.to/3TBSjCw
