Wabash Blues has my favorite cymbal crash of all 1920s tunes...Coonie knew his way around a trap set for sure...wished he’d lived another 40 years...

"Louder and Funnier" came with my first Victrola back around 1960. Never get tired of hearing it.

Says something about the modernity and hottitude of the arrangement!

WHERE do you find these AMAZING phonograph discs ???!!! They look MINT AND UNPLAYED, WITH THE ORIGINAL COMPANY SLEEVE !!! All made in the GREAT U.S. of A. !!

The sound is wonderful, and the music is as expected with one of my favourite hot dance bands: High quality! What is the interesting observation is that this white group is on Victor's 38000 RACE series!

In case anyone was born yesterday, "Louder...and funnier!" was something "wags" (usually under the influence of a concealed flask) used to yell at the speaker at a stag dinner as he began his remarks. Wodehouse even used the title for an anthology. Bonus: "Wabash Blues," Dec. 13, 1927, unissued on 78.

Hi RatPfink! Whoever you are, you are treating these Victor Electrics as they should.I first heard this great band on a Victor LP. I managed to get hold of 17 original 78 sides, from July 13, 1925, up to July 26, 1929 before I stopped. The most interesting from my point of view,are those recorded during late 1926/early 1929. Here Comes My Ball And Chain, from November 27, 1928, is one of the outstanding recordings, Superb vocal by Joe Sanders.

Wabash has to be a reference to Chicago.

I'm assuming that these two are on the same disc,because I heard Wabash Blues on another channell I hope to find that in my search of 78's sometime
@Prozoot5 жыл бұрын
No, this is not the coupling -- Wabash Blues was never issued commercially on 78rpm. The track you hear on my channel was made from a very rare 78rpm vinyl test. That side was issued on LP and later on CD. Louder and Funnier was coupled with Smilin' Skies, that can also be heard on my channel. Thanks for your interest.
