Really nice to see that car isn't a trailer queen. Great that it's being driven and maintained. As to the size of the starter -- with a low compression engine there isn't a need for a powerful starter motor.

Hi Jay!: Whippet! Whippet Good! (nyuk, nyuk) But seriously, this was and important car in its day! About the only thing that was a direct competitor to the model T and later the model A Fords. I believe this was the engine Willys used in their cars during the mid thirties. Later on it was modified some and became the "Go Devil" engine for jeeps as you mentioned in the video. WYR#1 is darned hard! But I will have to go Ford A here, as interesting as the Whippet is! The A had a tiny bit more horsepower than the Whippet, also. #2 is even more hard. I was all set to say Whippet, when that Falcon-Knight was mentioned!! Going to go with the sleeve valve here, those are SO interesting!!

Hahaha funny thing is I had that in the video but I took it out because I thought sounded stupid, I lost my voice earlier yesterday I put this episode together then and it just didn’t sound good like the intro didn’t sound on point like A generally does, i’ve been camping in my van last couple days and I did it in the van and the acoustics aren’t the same as in my kitchen and echoes more in my kitchen so I don’t have to talk as loud I had to like yell into the thing to get the same audio, Great choices =) Thank you so much for sharing that insight and information

WYR - I’ll take the 28 Chev thanks! I’m impressed with the Wippet Jay, made the year my mother was born, whilst watching this vehicle, I was reminded of the ‘28 bullnose Morris my older brother and I found in an old shed around the corner from home once when I was around 8 years old- 48 yrs ago now! I guess the Morris isn’t well known in your neck of the woods. Thanks for all your hard work mate, it’s appreciated by all of us too !

Normally, I'd choose the Chevy, and I also like those early Fords, but that Whippet is enticing... Same with the 2nd choice... I'd usually go with the Dodge, and that Falcon Knight is exotic, but think I'd go with the Whippet. The song sounds familiar, but I can't put my finger on it...

WYR: 1928 Whippet for both. I’ve mentioned this before, but my grandfather had a whippet six cylinder. As you noted in your video, light and high-performance (and Toledo made). I can't say that I know anything about these cars. The "Whippet" has a special place in my mental hard drive. When I was a kid, my Uncle gave me his first hand built metal detector (He was an electrical engineer/designer). I took it around my yard, then went out around the ditch next to the street out front. The first thing I found was (Albeit very bent) a "Whippet" wheel center cap buried about 3 inches under dirt.

It must be model A in the first scenario, and none in the second. I don't want a car that I can't get parts for relatively quickly and easily, so before 1930 it's either Model T (which is useless for daily driving) or Model A. Naturally, Bugatti, Alfa etc, but it's a completely different price range.
@What.its.like. Жыл бұрын
I totally agree I have a 52 Chevy 1 ton truck that parts are easy to get for it’s just hard to find people that wanna work on it people don’t wanna work on vehicles unless they can plug the computer in and tell them what’s wrong with it it’s a crazy world we live in I really miss the old days I grew up in the 90s I remember yard sales with people selling wheel covers there used to be wheel covers as far as the eye can see that world is gone

@@What.its.like. I'm no mechanic, but on things this old I'll usually be able to (reluctantly) do most of it myself. I grew up keeping old VWs on the road. It is possible that a Chevrolet from the 20-30s is manageable in the US, but I live in Europe. I can't go to a swap meet in Allentown Pennsylvania looking for parts for a 1928 Chevrolet... But I can find most things for a Ford A from the same era relatively locally. And there are dedicated helpful clubs for the Model A. Things like this Whippet would just become a museum piece that I wouldn't dare take on long tours with. An interesting car, but not something to keep in the garage. For me.
