Yay!!! My favorite fashion era! You just don't see this kind of detail much anymore. These are not average style lines...they really went all out with pleating, gathering, ruching, and unique angles. So classy!! Can't pick a favorite (4038 Jacket 7965 dress) Love them all!! Thanks for sharing!!!

Oh man, I want to copy them all! Or most! I think 562 is my favorite - but it's the style lines in these designs that make them unique. Beautiful!

What an amazing collection and wow, did women have style back then! I love the fact that some of those patterns said ‘Easy’ , hardly!! as compared to our easy patterns now 😂. It was a treat for the eyes, thank you for sharing.

Carol, I agree! The details included on every pattern, they were amazing. And obviously women were expected to know how to sew, as easy then is definitely not what is easy for us today.

The coats! And in general, the much more interesting design lines of a lot of these garments are breathtaking and I’d love to see some of that ingenuity applied to some of today’s patterns. Asymmetrical ruching, dramatic tucks, the use of belts. Loved it all. Thanks!

I really like the pants from the 30's. Reminds me of Katherine Hepburn

Hi there! I agree, those pants are so Katherine Hepburn. They’re pretty cool looking.

My prom dress from 1993 would have fit into this catalog perfectly. Apparently, I've liked this time period for a really long time. My mom let me pick out a pattern and fabric and took me to a seamstress. It was such an elegant dress. She took me to have my hair put up in a french twist. These pictures reminded me of that special time in my life.

I have so many favorites! I would wear so many of these outfits. A lot of them were very sexy and yet were not revealing at all. Thank you so much for sharing. I really enjoyed seeing these.

The pattern 7961, which is a cape in this video at 1:17 looks VERY similar to the newly released Vogue pattern v2054

So hard to choose just 1! Love all the details!!! Starting sit ups to achieve those small waists....will take a while though, yikes.
@SharonSews4 жыл бұрын
🤣😂🤣 Oh I kept looking at those tiny little waists and thinking how uncomfortable it must’ve been to wear those undergarments! And I am sure no amount of sit ups could ever get my waist that tiny 😀

I too love this fashion era. The drawings are so creative. I m curious what did you pay for this book? I have recently bought magazines for women from the 30s and 40s and get very happy when I look through them. . I 've decorating my sewing rooms with poster framed vintage copied cut outs and love it. Keep inspiring.

I agree, the fashions are so interesting to look at from this era. It has been about 15 years since I purchased the magazine, and if I remember correctly it was 15 or $20. I never even thought about using some of them in frames to decorate my sewing studio. Part of me loves that idea, part of me hates to take apart the magazine
