1930s Wyandotte Light Up Coupe Restoration

My Aunt and Uncle purchased this little 1930's Wyandotte light up toy coupe from an antique store early July of 2020. I was super excited when I got it. The paint was worn and it was really rusty, the wheels were shot and it was missing the headlights, contact bar and battery spring. It was a perfect little project to restore.

Chip Channel Restorations I’m 57 years old. My father was an antique dealer specializing in American Art Glass and mass produced glass. He set up a repair station in our basement, with grinding and polishing wheels, always letting customers know if an item had been repaired. He taught me how to repair chips. We had all sorts of antiques and collectibles in our home. I remember him repairing a sculpture with spare oil paint we had from a paint by numbers kit. I never imagined, when I saw antique toys at the antique markets, that this type of restoration was possible. I’m enchanted with those who are restoring the old and damaged and with those who are producing the replacement parts.

I really enjoy your channel as well as some of the others like it on KZbin. The transformation is pretty amazing, but I what I find equally amazing is that "spare parts" (most likely reproductions) are still available for these old toys. Same goes for all the spare parts that some of the guys that are restoring the old Tonka toys. Who would have thought that there would be a small but active market for such things?!
