Nice car! With two spare tires you'd definitely be ready for a road trip! 😁

Hey, guys! Yes indeed! These vintage cars often had multiple spares as a practical matter! Roads were terrible, many were unpaved in more remote areas, and flat tires were a common occurrence! Thanks! :) Jack

Hey, Donny Boy Blue! It was indeed a privilege to video this car, and I was delighted to share it! The French seem to have an artistic sensibility that is quite beyond what's ordinarily experienced! Thanks! :) Jack

A concours quality car, It’s a WOW! When I see these sleek, sporty 30s European cars , I’m reminded of that story about Edsel Ford seeing them there, returning home, inspired to produce the Lincoln Continental.

Imagine the impact this car had when new....and it hasn't lost that charm! Great styling never gets old! Edsel had the intelligence and artistic sensibilities to be ready for inspiration! Thanks! :) Jack

That British license plate GY 5816 still appears on the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency database with a ‘Yes’ for having been exported, and the Delage’s last road fund license expired on 1st March 2000, so it is fairly safe to assume it has been in the USA at least since then!

Hey, Mick! I'm in awe of British plate records! Thanks for the history of this car in that arena! Thanks! :) Jack

I think I first became aware of the online vehicle licensing records in 2007, which must be around when they were established, since the part that enables you to check a vehicle’s MoT test history only goes back as far as 2006 or 2007. There are anomalies though. Even though vehicle registrations were computerised in the mid 1970s, any vehicle that was, let’s say, stored in a barn or a museum that did not have up to date paper documents, got missed out. Which can cause issues in the modern day when restoring such a vehicle, and trying to retain the original license plate that goes with it. And take for example one of the Bentleys used in the TV show The Avengers, registration RX 6180 (which happens to be my KZbin handle!) well on the database, the First Date of Registration of that 1930 Bentley is recorded as 1980! Which is nonsense, but a quirk of it not having been on the road at some point and some paper records having got lost or destroyed. Plus a great many cars that go for scrap do not have their registration documents surrendered to the DVLA, so they remain recorded on the database. I’ve got loads of my old cars still on there. But it’s a fair bet if the last road tax disc was issued in 1984, that car went to make dog food cans. I read once that officially, if vehicle records show no activity after two years, then that vehicle is not counted any more as a vehicle in existence available to be used. By law, private car owners are supposed to declare a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) if they are keeping a vehicle off road, and not taxing it, or risk facing a fine. For dealers, it somehow works differently if a car is part of their unsold stock. Somehow things still slip through though, and I’ve checked records of cars that I know exist that have expired road tax and no SORN! It is a useful tool though, for checking the engine capacity, CO2 figures, taxation class of a vehicle you might be interested in, and the MoT history section, if applicable, shows Pass and Fail results, Advisories for non-urgent developing problems, and the progress of recorded mileage per annum at each safety test. Gives you an idea of the kind of life a car has had.

I can see that such records would be very useful in making car buying and car restoration decisions! Here each state decides on what records are developed and kept. Uniformity certainly can't be maintained as each state can mandate what it wants. Thanks! :) Jack
