It's a political shit show here in the states and I've learned there are somethings you just don't talk about unless you want to alienate half your audience ( which is never a good look ) I have my opinions but keep them off the channel but most people can pick up what side someone is on just by the way they talk and I'll leave it at that =)

The interior is particularly stylish for what we would call an entry level car today. I think Ford was looked at as being a durable car with generally better quality than the smaller manufacturers. I am surprised how many cars of the era had trip odometers.

Jay, Great video as always. Couple of small points: you should have demonstrated the front windows, in the full up position when lowered they move back about an inch before lowering fully. This was referred as a smokers window, but also would allow for great ventilation when the cowl vent was opened. Secondly the key was used to unlock the steering wheel , the switch would then be allowed to turn on the ignition and then the starter button ( floor switch) to stay the car. Everyday is a school day. Keep up the automotive history you provide your audience, I for one am a great fan.

Hi Jay! Thanks for featuring the 1936 Ford! When I was a kid, my two favorite old cars from Ford were any Model A and the 1936 Ford Phaeton! Now I would choose the convertible sedan instead, as it has roll-up windows. The headlights on the car you show have had a sealed-beam conversion. Back in the days before LED bulbs. The easiest way to get better, brighter headlights was to use more modern sealed beam units. The original lenses would have been rounded outward, giving the headlights a cool, streamlined look. The artwork from the brochure show how they would have originally looked, The Fords of that era had a feature that is found on pretty much every car today, a locking steering column. The little switch is actually for the ignition. The car won't start without the column unlocked and the switch in the ON position. The starter will crank the engine without the switch on, but she won't fire. WYR 1936 Ford for number one. Graham for number two!

From 1928 throughout the 30s the Fords were supremely stylish, thanks to Edsel B. Ford's good taste and Bob Gregorie's talent as stylist. While sticking to the hoary old way of transverse leaf springs front and rear and mechanical- rod actuated- brakes, the materials used in the manufacturing process were first-rate. Seeing the interior, it's hard to believe that this automobile was really a low-priced car.

Hi Jay. That is a nicely restored Ford. The only thing I could pick as being non-original was the headlights, which may have foxed you. The originals are not sealed beams, and have extremely convex lenses - almost to the point of being a full hemisphere. Cheers.

That is a beautiful car in beautiful condition. I love the two-tone paint. I would take the Ford in both WYRs. The small grilles on the front are for the horns, and among Fords are unique to the '36. Older VW Beetles also have horn grilles.

Ford deLOOOKS, funny how they pronounced that back in the day. All the heavies in the low priced field for 1936 Jay, all big sellers 930,000 for Ford to 918,000 for Chevy to 520,000 for Plymouth, very nice set, love me some Plymouth. The second group is very interesting, I've never seen a 1936 Willys or a 1936 Graham. Did you notice how much these cars look alike in 1936 ...? The Ford stands out but a lot of that is because it is a DeLOOOKS model. Beautiful cars, great video.

WYR: It is remarkable how similar these cars look, especially the "Big Three" automakers. The featured Ford is a beautiful example however, so I'll give it the nod in the first group. The Willys is kind of an oddball, so I'll pick that in the second group.

One of the cars that my boss owned in 1979 was a 1937 Ford 4 door sedan. It is hard to pick a favorite from the 1936 cars shown here, but I noticed that almost all of them had rear suicide doors. The Graham was the only one with no suicide doors, yet the Willys had all 4 doors opening in suicide fashion.

A nice car indeed with a touch of 'art deco' styling. I do like the round-dial radios, and this two-tine body color is the perfect combination of colors. With two water pumps one could go out and overheat one bank of cylinders without showing a great rise in the temp gauge, and that caused the all-too-common cracked blocks you find in these engines. As vaunted as Ford;s V-8 was, it does have it's faults. On WYR all these three are so close in exterior appearance they could almost be ''badge engineered' models from the same manufacturer, but the Ford edges the others out. Notice the Willys has dual 'suicide' doors and the Graham two front-hinged ones which became the norm, but even with that modern touch it wasn't around nearly as long as the other brands. Again I'll have the Ford. On the 'walk-around' you can see what looks like rust bubbles under the paint on the edge of the front door; a real shame considering how well they did the rest of the car. Details matter so watch them carefully during restorations!

'36 Ford has always been one of my favorites, a good looking car in any body style however to me the trunk-back Touring Sedan has the most balanced side profile. Despite working for Ford Motor Company since the late 'twenties, Grandpa's first new Ford was a '36 Deluxe Touring Sedan in Washington Blue, and it did have a radio.

For WYR, it’s the Ford both scenarios. What impressed me was the back seat and trunk. A good amount of room in the trunk especially for the era, and a really comfortable-looking back seat. I thought the high/low beam adjustment in the steering wheel was interesting.

The sedan rear leg room is huge. I could barely reach the foot rests behind the front seats. The vertical trunk is fairly large, but difficult to get to smaller things on the bottom. Only some have an external spare tire mount.

The 36 Ford is one of my favorite 30's cars. The styling is just right. That particular car is gorgeous! And, it is the winner in both WYR categories, too. Sorry, I have no info on Ferro Motors- never heard of them! Oh, and was that a 427 Cobra in the background? Or just a replica? Cool video for a cool car, Jay!

Looks a lot like the 1952 Mercedes model 170 that my uncle bought in Europe he was drafted by the Air Force to perform dentistry on our Nato troops in stationed in France in '53. At the time, European cars were still pretty much behind their American counterparts thanks to the devastation that the WW2 had on industry. 11:07 Those seats sure look comfy and the gauges from Ford of that era look really high-end. WYR: 1. Ford 2. Willys cuz it looks so quirky.

As far as the commercials go, if they are offensive, close the page and come back later. Until KZbin figures it out and fixes it, when you open a video and a commercial pops up, click the back arrow and then click on the video again. The video will probably then start without a commercial. But, just treat commercials like you would on regular TV. Hit the mute, go get something to drink and/or snack on, and the commercial will probably be over when you get back. If the main video has already started, just back it up a bit. The placement of the commercials has been at the start of the video lately. Before, a commercial might pop up when the narrator was in the middle of a word or sentence.

I did one night see the violet tail lamps on a car way ahead of me on highway one here in Northern California, as I gradually closed in on the car I saw it was a “hot rod” with this light lens mod - very cool (and a ticket magnet, for sure)!

I love every Ford model from 1935 through '40, especially this 1936. I believe it was the first year ford introduced artillery wheels, your much beloved Airflow had them already in 1934. The size / room space ratio here is formidable, unlike those unnecessarily huge and bulky (2-door even!) models that came after the war. WYR: Ford in both cases, but the Plymouth looks good. Man those Willys are ugly
