SUMMARY: Gainesville, Georgia, the second half of the 1936 Tornado Outbreak. Prior to 1936, it had been ravaged by another Deadly F4. However, the death toll in that one was less severe.
The Following is a what if. What if an incident similar to the F4 That struck Gainesville, struck that very same day, in a different year?

My great Grandmother was at school when this happened she’s told me how she remembers it. Says it was a lot worse that it’s ever been described and she remembers seeing Bodies in the laying around before they were found. . We’re from just across the Forsyth/Hall county line off highway 53.

Never been in an F5 Tornado due to being thankful. Dothan has been hit by F1 and FO funnels but nothing serious.

Easalert, this was incredible! Frightening scenario, indeed. My parents lived in New Holland during the 97-98 EL NINO when there was literally a tornado spun up almost EVERY NIGHT! Mom and Dad said they would huddle up in the tub, with Moms gigantic pregnant belly! lol...Good job! Thank you!

Um hello 👋 I'm in Talmo wondering where those two tornadoes in gainesville tracked to. Especially the one moving east. This was pretty damn good
@easalert88
@easalert88 2 жыл бұрын
The direction in which those two tornadoes were tracking at the time of, I would suspect that one of them tracked Northeast, the other to the east, said two Tornadoes would merge into the powerful F4 we've heard accounts of from those who survived that. Funny thing is this isn't the first time Gainesville was struck by a strong to violent tornado. June 1st, 1903 was the first known instance of a Violent Tornado striking Gainesville.

Can you do a scenario combining the April 14, 2012 and April 15-16, 1998 tornado outbreaks, merging both to occur in one event, and set the merged outbreak EAS scenarios in 2014, using polygon warnings and impact based warnings, even if the IBWs weren’t in widespread use or not being used at all at the time?

There's a lot of history when it comes to tornadoes in Gainesville, namely the tornadoes that struck in 1908 and 1936. Most recent tornado to have struck there, as far as I know, was in 1998.

easalert88 sounds about right we never had any serious weather problems maybe some tornado watches and severe thunderstorms every once and awhile but from what I’d say Gainesville’s weather has been relatively calm

Having lived the the ATL for 10 years before moving away in 2001, I know well how this feels. Lived through quite a few of these events. Don't think an F5 ever hit in the area, but there were quite a few events like this. Of course, now where I live we get to experience 6 months of hurricane season.............
@easalert88
@easalert88 6 жыл бұрын
Even then, you know where to evacuate, considering how some have evacuated to Atlanta before. Case in point: Hurricane Irma last year. Subsequently Atlanta would be placed under its' first Tropical Storm Warning, as Irma, by the time it was expected to trek through Florida, was forecast to become a tropical storm. We southeastern states have it pretty rough, on both sides, but hey, we're used to it either way

Commander Shepard - That's what I find pretty interesting about us southeastern people, we come back stronger than ever after a life changing experience, and for the people who had experienced the '36 Gainesville Tornado, You could say it was definitely life changing for them, much like the 2011 super outbreak was for us in the modern day.

easalert88 Right? I think that outbreak was the worst Alabama has ever seen. Just an ungodly amount of tornadoes, I was able to snap a picture of one before it got too dark. EF4 or EF4 easily. The only reason April 27 was so bad is our infrastructure was damaged in that morning's line of storms.
@easalert88
@easalert88 6 жыл бұрын
Commander Shepard - Four of the tornadoes were so strong, an EF5 Rating was warranted for them, during that outbreak.

Plus my hometown of South Bend-Mishawaka have never been hit either. The Mishawaka Hills to the south act like natural tornado protection measures. Any funnels come toward my hometown and hit those will bounce off of them and land somewhere else. Spent 10 to 11 wonderful years there since I was safe there and no tornado was going to wreck the place. I ever get out of Dothan, I plan on going back there one day. EAS suggestion: Do one with an F-6 Tornado in it. I think an 10.5 mile wide wedge shaped funnel should do the trick. The state where this should be done in is the states of Wyoming and the Dakotas since no one has done one there. Timeline: 6/19/2020 to 7/10/2020. Hope this idea of mine works. Ok?
