Clever marketing film with a Disney-like cartoon character! This was the first model year (1937) for all-steel construction ...without a wood and fabric roof insert on the closed body models. Also new were integrated headlights, "alligator" opening hood, and the additional underpowered small V-8 with 60 Horsepower (because Henry hated a 6-cylinder). Styling of this Ford was far sleeker than both the Chevrolet and Plymouth with their "potato era" design (rounded "like a potato" contours that were common to multiple manufacturers during 1937 and 1938). However, Henry thought that the 1937 Ford was too long and had overall length reduced by 5-6 inches from the original proposal. Despite Edsel's pleas, hydraulic brakes would have to wait two more model years. For 1937, Chevrolet was still the most popular new car and Plymouth broke its own sales record.

I think the 2nd car trend would take about 25 years to get off the ground, from the time of that film.

😅 I find this commercial extremely interesting. My late father actually owned a 1937 Ford slantback. Two-door coupe. With a flathead V8. When does so did she sold it to the guy who was going to make a race car out of it. Likely a circle track car

I was wondering about that too, I've been very curious about when the first thing started to happen with cars, such as the automatic transmission, I believe it was 1948 with Oldsmobile, power steering, air conditioning, it's hard to find all this information
@-oiiio-39935 ай бұрын
@@TheNextGoogification Depends on whether one means a _practical_ automatic transmission (one which worked well and consistently), in which case you're about right.

And thus started the modern economy of pure debt !!! Being that you can barely afford one car so you might as well won't be able to afford both cars. At least someone in about a year will be able to buy them on the repo line at a auction for less than you still owe. Oh the wonderful life of debt and bankruptcy !!!!

Reminds us of the rubbish that modern cars have become - cellphones on wheels made of inferior materials that certainly are not going to survive as long as this Ford...
