In this 73rd Video from Classic Car ChitChat you will get to see a stunningly beautiful 1940 Packard. This car is a custom-built Resto-mod with all the modern conveniences that makes this car so drivable in today’s reality. The car maintains her beautiful lines but with upgraded parts including a small block 350 motor discovered in a field in Iowa. The car has been lovingly restored over the years with an incredible 2 tone paint that just makes the car pop!
In case you are keeping Track this is Video # 73 of Classic Car ChitChat Videos!
I hope my Classic Car ChitChat video’s make you smile. I do them in my spare time because I truly love cars and my intentions are simply to honour the beautiful cars I get to see and to really understand the passion and love of the vehicle by the driver (or caretaker as Jay Leno would say) of the car. I also understand too that my videos perhaps lack the polish calibre of great KZbinrs like: Doug DeMuro, Scotty Kilmer, and of course my favourite Supercar Blondie. I also know that I can’t even come close the quality & finish you get from the likes of Jeremy Clarkson and the boys at Top Gear. I think they use a little fancier equipment than my little iPhone… LOL
Mission Statement:
My Objective through creating these videos is to shine the spotlight on people who love their vehicles whether it be a car, motorcycle, or even a bicycle…. Bottom line is if it has wheels and you love it then let’s show that passion to the world!
Equipment Used:
Camera - Just an iPhone SE (Nothing fancy - which proves anyone can use whatever you have handy to make a video… you don’t need really expensive equipment)
Gimbal - DJI OM4 - For that ultra-smooth cinematic look. (To be honest... still not quite sure how to use it but one day I will figure it out!)
Audio - Rode Wireless GO II (I gotta be honest… this is really the biggest investment that was made… I wish there was a cheaper option but after the first couple of videos I soon realized that audio quality is important and hopefully better than the onboard mic on the iPhone!

If you have read this far, then I thank you. As always, I truly appreciate your “thumbs-up”, and by leaving your comments it demonstrates to me that I managed to get you involved and hopefully made you smile. Most importantly when you subscribe to my channel then you are truly acknowledging my effort to help share with others like you my passion and love for “all things that have wheels” and honouring the people who take care of them.
Thank You
Kevin

I have actually never seen a Packard in the UK. It reminds me so much of the Wolsely that my grandfather had or the Humber that my uncle had when i was a lad in Bolton. This car is beautiful and I have to take my hat off to the lady who upgraded it to make it more comfortable to drive today with some of the safety features we are now use to. Great video as always Kevin by far the best car channel on the Internet. Thank you for sharing another heartwarming video.

Dave, I too had never seen one until coming to Canada. I do see similarities between the workmanship of old British classics too.

I have always been a big fan of the Packard and Studebaker cars. My grandfather had one and it was one of the most beautiful cars ever. I felt like a Princess when I sat in the car because it looked so much like a Rolls Royce I always called it Grandpa's Roolls Royce. I loved this video and it was so nice to see it loved and cared for by a classy lady too.

WoW Julia, you were lucky to have ridden in a Packard with your grandfather. I agree it is very much like the old classic Rolls Royce’s.

Actually, these cars were available with A/C from the factory. Kudos for saving it, restomod is surely the best way to have gone.

Thomas, First of all thank you so very much for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. My intention for the videos is to allow ´ordinary people’ like you and I who love cars an opportunity to speak about their love of their car and why that car means so much to them. After all we are all the ´caretakers’ of our cars (as Jay Leno rightly says). I will be honest I really had never realized how luxurious this car was back in the 40’s and even to have an option for A/C just says it all. I too think it’s OK to mod a car to make it more drivable to meet the owners needs.

This is one of the most beautiful cars i have ever seen. I stumbled across your channel a few weeks ago and i really enjoy how you create such a warm environment for us to see the cars but also to appreciate the love the owner has for their car. Please keep doing what you do.

I thought Packard was bought out by Lincoln, not Studebaker.

Hi Dennis, thanks again for watching my videos. I have confirmed with a gentleman who is a Studebaker collector(videos coming soon) that it was Studebaker who purchased Packard. He also informed me that the Packard company was offered to one of our Canadian Premiers back in the late 40’s who did not move forward.. otherwise this beautiful car could perhaps been made in Canada. Our loss.
