Although vintage lighting fans love circline lamps with the tube left bare and visible (which I understand), this kind of floor lamps requires a silk shade to avoid direct glare. This shade is part of the "mogul"/six-way lighting principles, which consist of indirect lighting for general purpose and a shade for reading.

Very interesting. Never seen one like that before. How much did you pay for it?
@nicksfans8 жыл бұрын
$32 for the lamp itself, $2 for the NOS 3-way bulb, and $1 for the used but vintage 32w Circline. All from the same store.

hope you can keep finding lamps for it since everything has gone LED.....

For now, lamps still seem to be readily available.

This would be awesome converted into a wall sconce.
@nicksfans8 жыл бұрын
It would be a huge wall sconce though! The upper section of the lamp is about 12" wide by 15" high if you include the part with the switches. I could see that working better if the fluorescent was an 8" and there was a regular medium base incandescent in the center.

Yeah, it is still an awesome find.

Thanks! A lamp like this had been high on my want list for a long time.

I don't want to blow up your notifications but if you ever run across a brown 52" Emerson blender fan, that's been on my list a long time
@nicksfans8 жыл бұрын
I'll keep that in mind. I saw a 52" blender at a ReStore in Austin, TX last time I was there, but I'm pretty sure it was white. I almost got it but decided against it since I already had so much lighting stuff that I wasn't sure I was going to be able to get it all home.

好像没有启动器,它是用开关启动的?
@nicksfans7 жыл бұрын
Yes, there is a switch to manually preheat the lamp. However, since making this video, I rewired the lamp and two of the wires came out of the old switch, so I installed a regular switch and glow starter.
