I offered to buy a neighbor’s ‘49 Chevy. Finally she sold it to me. Drove it to college for a while. Then on the freeway it lost it’s rear seal. I enjoyed that car. It was the same color as that ‘41 sedan. I’m glad you have the wherewithal to save that beauty. Watched your videos on the Studebaker. If only we could turn back time!

Always liked 41 Chevies. Rode around in one a bit as a youngster back in the 50's. An older neighbor kid owned it. The grill and the body look pretty good. It has "backup" light!!! Quite "sophisticated" in 1941!! Love to see this one come back to life!!

This old car was born the same year I was. In fact this is the first car that I ever drove at the age of 15, so the car would have been 15 years old at the time. They were of course a common sight on the streets in my youth. Thank you for salvaging a piece of my past. With great respect. JB

I bought one almost identical to this one back in 1972 for $375 in Phoenix, AZ. It was a 1942 model though so I understand pretty rare since production was stopped after Pearl Harbor in 41. It had chrome reverse wheels on it with baby moon hubcaps and a Tijuana tuck and roll interior job. I was 22 at the time and hadn't developed good taste yet. ;-) There was so much slack in the steering I had to turn the steering wheel two full rotations before anything moved. I drove it back to base (AF) carefully and got under it to find a bad pitman arm in the steering. There was an antique car dealer around Avondale about that time and he actually had a nos pitman arm in stock which got rid of most of the slack. The car was black, of course, and I ended up rattle canning it grey. Didn't keep it long and ended up trading it for a 650 Yamaha. LOL

About a month before my 13th birthday one of my grandpas gave me a 40 Chevy 4-door Sedan. That was over 50 years ago. At the time it was only 27 years old and very complete with not a lot of rust. The motor wouldn't run. Or at least I couldn't get it to. I spent a lot of time tinkering with it; taking stuff apart and putting it back together. I learned a quite a bit about cars. It really fueled my love for old cars. And I have loved 40 and 41 Chevys ever since. 1940 was the last year Chevrolet cars had running boards and continental rear doors. I would like to get another one some day.

Missouri Highway Patrol used Chevrolet's mostly 2 doors around that time. I've got a picture of I believe a 42 model in front of a Weight Scale station, probably during WWII. My Dad was a radio operator and he said the Chevrolet's weren't much of a pursuit car, the fiber timing gears couldn't take high speed for long. Glad you saved it...

A typical "Jonathan W" save awaits us. Out in the elements for 60 years, rot, rust, rats and wrecked, ...then a little tweak here and there , new plugs , new gaskets, new gas tank, fresh oil, a bit of hammering, some rag wiping and suddenly (as though it had only been turned off last week) it's up and running 3 episodes later! The definition of COOL.!

Least they are still there to find and save. Here, Lincolnshire UK was sterilized about 15/20 years ago. Scrap price went up, all the old farm machinery, cars etc were either hidden, stolen or scrapped. My friend still has the 1932 Lanchester. Wants top dollar, but worth it. You won't find another 1932 car with original non rotten woodwork in the UK. Been trying to save it for 14 years.....guess I'll keep trying. Another good save eh!

I just came across your 41 Chevy rescue. My folks had a 47 Chevy, quite similar and it had an under seat heater also. It seems like a great idea but the reality was that by the time the hot water got to the heater core it wasn't that hot. But what heat it did produce also heated the back seat.

The junk yard that this car came from originally was called "Thorns Auto Parts". When I was 15 I road my bike down there and tried to buy a 1950 Chevy he had, he wouldn't sell it to me because he said I needed to buy something running like a little Nissan pickup. I had owner two trucks before that (a 1946 and 1965) and although I didn't finish them, I got them running and worked hard on them and learned enough from them to easily pay for them.

Hello Jonathan, I just came across your channel. That is a really nice find there. So often you come across cars like that, and the property owner won't sell. They would rather the car just rot to the ground where it is. It is awesome that these folks were willing to let go of it. I looked through your other comments, and didn't see any mention, so I will ask, do you know of Jonathan Ward, and his Icon Derelict brand? I would think that you do, but if not, go look him up on YT, or the web. This is exactly the sort of car he looks for, and when I clicked on this video, I actually wondered if this was his second channel. I am glad I clicked anyway. Thanks for doing what you do.
