Many old NES soundtracks had a great song, but this game had a few. Some of the best aerial/aviary tracks for sure.

The last stage was such a marathon but beating it, even today, is still oh-so-satisfying. A feeling newer games don't offer very often.

2:17 is super-nostalgic for me. Even though I barely played this game, this damn theme always takes me back to my childhood.

This is just so awesome compared to that "beep, beep, beebeep, bee-bee-bee-bee-bee-beep" crap from 1942...

The NES version was worse. I first played 1942 on the NES and I thought all those beeping where radar sound effects and it took me a while to figure out those were the music. The arcade version was a bit better cause you could make out the whistles and drums and it sounded a bit more music-like.

Fun Fact: the 1942 BGM was a secret track in the arcade game 19XX.

This was one of the most challenging games ever created by Capcom. It takes skill to make it to the final battle with the battleship Yamato.

I now believe it was Hiroshige Tonomura ("Perorin") who was involved with re-scoring most of Kumi Yamaga's music for the NES version of 1943. I know this, at least, because the ending theme (12:12) that plays after you beat Totaku the second time around has a similar chord progression as the Moon stage theme from the NES DuckTales, which many believe was his best work. The other hint at Tonomura's involvement here is the sound effect that plays when you collect a power-up item, as it is the same sound that plays in NES DuckTales when Mrs. Beakley drops a few ice cream cones for Scrooge to recover his health. However, the Sea Boss Theme (10:45) was done by Manami Matsumae ("Manami Ietel") because that sounds a bit like the second Dr. Wily's Castle theme (for stages 3 and 4) from the first NES Mega Man game. And Yoshihiro Sakaguchi's ("Yuukichan's Papa") contributions here, if any, were merely to encode the music and sound effects, but he never actually composed any music for most Capcom games.

Japanese game about Japan losing to one American P-38 Lightning, ultimately destroying the battleship Yamato
@ramensoup436 жыл бұрын
Marcus Macena that doesn't technically count since its a Japanese company making a game about different countries. Like it would be like a US developer making a game of a foreign force protagonist infiltrating American forces and attacking a major base as the goal. A non-corrupt one anyway

@Marcus Macena Man, I loved Guerrilla War (Guevara) (on NES) played it so much, but I had no idea about the background story I was just blasting my way to the finish without a purpose (I was too young back then)

Much better than 1942.
@CrimsonDevil_Rias5 жыл бұрын
And 1944 is better than 1943. 1944 is a Japanese ROM hack of 1943 that has better controls over this game. Instead of using A to expend your lightning attack, it instead fires powerful lasers. Instead of autofiring the B button like in this game, you can instead autofire the A button to take down the boss ships and Ayako.
