It's going to happen because of the Four Seasons moisture likes to build up in those engines and that's why you get water must do frequent oil changes keep the water out or use a oil filter water separator
@carltona64295 жыл бұрын
Agreed that is exactly what is happening.

I just across his video. I naturally had to watch. I had an early 49 unstyled AR. not near as clean as yours but ran like a Swiss watch. I sold it 4 years ago to buy my son a pickup to drive to school. Yes I miss the tractor. The only one like it in our area. People really enjoyed it in parades and tractor shows. MB BAR RANCH

It has issues but it's still a nice tractor bill :-D Not sure where the water/oil are changing places, a small head gasket leak perhaps. I would do the coolant and oil change and see if it repeats the effect.

i like that the bug had to escape i bet he was thinking bloody hell theres a lot of oil in here lol

would using air solenoid valves make the decompression work while on the tractor or would that take some of the quaintness out of it ?
@jeffreymurdock83665 жыл бұрын
For the gear oil area run diesel fuel in there. For the engine use cheap oil and a oil flush from the parts store for a little while. That will flush everything out. That drip you think is the coolant area looks more like the base of a hydraulic pump. Could be wrong on that though.
@rustyoldjunk5 жыл бұрын
The water is probly condensation like others said. We always loosen the drain plug until it almost comes out and the water will drain off. Happens when it’s humid, temp change, or if they set out during a rainstorm. Same goes for transmission oil. If u drain it off before starting it won’t mix w the oil. To flush transmission and rear end we jack up one tire n put it in gear and run it a few minutes with diesel in it. that way there’s no real pressure on the bearings. Don’t want it falling off jack lol. Also the regulator may need to be polarized after unhooking battery, switch is for high-low charge I think.

Bill, when I was working with older engines and stuff,..i.e. Willys Jeeps, I was told that instead of a ammeter,..it is better to use a volt meter. You can see the charging rate much easier with a volt meter. Where we're working with liquids these days remember that mostly in North American we are either US measure or litres,..with that in mind 5 U.S. gallons would be approx. 18.9 litres.
@chadder19k5 жыл бұрын
Hey bill you were saying about the manual said about getting flushing oil to clean the rear end out, is diesel fuel or kerosene it will work just as good as the flushing oil does and then you can use it to make a fire and burn brush and have a bonfire with the family
@mattk99075 жыл бұрын
I heard that if u put a little deseil in with the oil it can help clean it out.
@matnaylor89393 жыл бұрын
There's water in the oil because of condensation build up these are renown for it they sweat due to temp changes in the air the water displaces the oil and sinks to the bottom that's why it comes out first when you pull the drain plugs ,regular checks are a must if the tractor has been standing for a long while .
@carltona64295 жыл бұрын
Old farmers trick is to fill it with diesel fuel and run it around the yard for about 10 minutes to flush the engine out before adding the new oil.
@billstmaxx5 жыл бұрын
wouldn't that wash off and damage bearings?
@carltona64295 жыл бұрын
@@billstmaxx since the diesel fuel has oil in it to lubricate the fueling system it won't damage the bearings. But it will put the old oil in a suspension state to wash the engine from the inside. It sounds strange but it really does work. I've done it myself and seen it done as well.
@firestarspelt5 жыл бұрын
may want to use high sulfur diesel if you can get it if your going to do that the ultra low sulfur stuff is not near as good of a lubricant as the higher sulfur stuff
@Kuulanth5 жыл бұрын
When they sit outside water can seep in through the crank case cover and the governor housing. Also they are supposed to have straight 30 weight oil in the summer and straight 10 weight in the winter for easier starting.
@johnr84765 жыл бұрын
Need to put a pressure tester on your radiator and see if it leaks down, if it does maybe try to find a smoke machine and hook up to cooling system some place while the oil plug is out and see if smoke comes out of oil pan. Lot of ways water can get into the oil, from sitting out in the rain or pressure washing, to a cracked block or head gasket, leaking cylinder liners, if it has any?
@tylernicolan40135 жыл бұрын
Like everyone already said.... Diesel to flush the gear set. I’d say that waters condensation build up, happens when they sit around not getting up to temp frequently 👍🏼
@chadder19k5 жыл бұрын
Also bill I don’t know if you know this or not but in the fire department I run with we get a rubber gasket that isn’t good or hard or don’t want to buy a new or can’t get a new one we take and clean the old one up and put vaseline on the gasket and let it set for a while and it brings the gasket back to life so you might want to try this if your oil filter gasket if in rough shape
@bigdawg51875 жыл бұрын
With the oil in the radiator, and water in oil could possibly be a damaged head gasket, I have seen thin before in other old 2 cylinder tractors

hey Bill. Its me again. I don't really know much about diesel tractors, you know more than I do. On the charging system, since its on a generator, could you check the leads coming from the generator to the battery to see if it is charging. On the water and oil issue, due you think it might be the head gasket? because sometimes if any part of the jackets on the head gasket would let water into the oil. I am just guessing at this point. Take care brother. Happy Easter

I remember when I was a kid, we would substitute 1 quart of kerosene per gallon of oil to flush engines, ie 3quarts oil and 1 quart kerosene

wont really know if it has a problem until after all the fluids are changed by your self then in the coming months if water gets in the oil or oil gets in the rad then you will know you have a problem and yes under load of like a plow or something they sound way cooler can hear the booming from the exhaust from quite a distance

Need to cut yourself a Tractor Trail through the woods so you can give it a workout to warm the oil quicker. If its open vented then the water could just be moisture getting in.
@brianrutberford64075 жыл бұрын
Then you have a head gasket leak.uou need to put anti freeze in it.you should take the radiator into a sop and have cleaned.it might be a bit plugged internally. Fill the rad tank full and check for bubbles in it.if there is that confirms the head gasket is bad

Also should be o-ring in the bottom of main case where filter seats, shouldn’t need sealant. Filter should’ve came with one

It's just from the changing seasons. With it being the old style oil bath air filter, moisture will accumulate in it and therefore in the rest of the engine as well
@deathk265 жыл бұрын
Yep, just moisture. It's not like more modern engines that get hotter and will easily evaporate the water which can then exit through a crankcase vent. Still happens though with vehicles that only take short trips without getting up to temp.
