What is your set up ya know string gauge pick etc.. I know tone comes from the hands of the player and my friend god blessed you

@@joshferguson9703 here, these are just D’addario EJ- 16 and a Bluechip SR60 (yes, they are very expensive, yes it is pound for pound the best tonal investment you can make, assuming you don’t lose picks left and right).

A 1975 j 45 deluxe or a new Vintage spec , which would you choose and why ?
@peterpicker8508 ай бұрын
@@benallmark9671the newer vintage spec, not even close. The 70’s Gibsons have nothing in common with the great build design of older ones. Age won’t cover up poor design.

Your video really pushed me to find this sound. I have a 2013 j45 that can’t do this.. so I search high and low for one that could. I tried a bunch of newer banner historic j45s, which were great, but not the sound. I ended up finding a 1954 southern jumbo that had been refinished and with it was the sound. When I was trying it at the consignment shop I refused to put it down to try anything else thinking it would go quickly. Bought it right there. After purchasing it the owner said he now has to email a slew of people back who were interested in buying it. So thanks for the sound! and the great playing!

I had to comment again that tone is outstanding and the best overall tone I have heard in 31yrs of playing guitar you sir have been a continual inspiration to me thank you

Beautiful tone. It is such a thrill when you find an instrument whose woods shimmer when you play it to the point that you can feel it - i dont know if that makes sense to you.

That sounds like fire! You are an amazing guitarist. I feel the music.

The low resonance of this guitar really makes it a winner. Kind of rare in J-45s. A few of these older ones have it. Great touch on the guitar, too!
@peterpicker850 Жыл бұрын
Yes it’s super deep - has that sub bass thing going on.
@dinkaboutit42283 ай бұрын
That is an exceptional instrument! I've never heard bass resonance like that from a guitar. I realize that you're tuned down, but I don't mean the how low the tone is, I mean the way the E (D) string has essentially the same character and volume as the D or G. No boxyiness, no boom, just pure... resonance. That thing might ought to be in the Smithsonian.
@peterpicker8503 ай бұрын
Thank you! It’s an instrument that I regret selling. You’re absolutely right, the response is/was very even on it. Rare in old J-45s - many tend to be mid range focused and lack the wide open character this one has.

What is the difference in tone, bass, mids, resonance, volume and play ability/feel etc between the EJ16 and XS 12-53 P.B. ?

Outstanding job. Really. What tuning is that? I walked down the aisle to that in 1983, D Brombergs version with a hired violinist. Just as it broke into the jig we met at the altar.

You need to practise a lot more with a metronome, it would give you a lot more drive in your playing. Your hesitating split seconds in wondering what the beat is. Metronome gives you drive , driving rhythms and spot on timing, then you can really break free from your guessing of the time. Drive and feel. U have feel but hesitant drive, like a car with a small spluttering while driving. Love your guitar.
@thegrandpencil43748 ай бұрын
Metronome is also a soulless machine-tick. Always perfect, no heart or bounce to it. If someone practices with a metronome, it will not teach them anything other than how to sound sterile. Better to just listen to the rhythm inside your heart and play to that. Or, if you must, find a drummer. But no metronome.

Everyone who has had the misfortune to read this condescending, pretentious pant-load needs to go to this guys page and check out his awesome (just kidding) guitar performance. It is Fing hilarious. It would just be sad and cringe, but this guys out here with the unsolicited advice, which makes it mmm MMM GOOD! Seriously. Go look. Seriously. *and let me just stop you now, Peteykins, before you reply to tell me that you don't really play guitar, but you're qualified to spew about rhythm since you're actually a drummer, because I watched that video too, and... NO, sir, you are not. ** I would be willing to believe that you teach music in a public school in, like, Flint MI.
