1947 Harley Davidson Knucklehead barn find

We found this bike recently that had been sitting for many years. We did just a couple of minor things to it like oil the cylinders, cleaned the carb, points and plugs...gave it two priming kicks, turned ignition on and it started on the 1st kick.
What do you think...should we clean it up or leave the years of patina ?

I have a 59 panshovel in same chasis rides great ,could only wish it was a knuck! Very nice 👍

I just bought a ‘58 Panhead sitting in a similar mid 1970’s FX chassis. It had the same frame neck “modifications” to overcome ownership and VIN conflicts. Your ‘47 motor sure sounds good.

Was that really the first kick? That thing fired right up. Not saying it isn’t, I’m just impressed if it is. I know they can do it. 58 pan that sat for 32 years in a barn in north Texas fired up first kick for me and my grandpa after cleaning points, fresh gas, plugs and wires etc. basically a “let’s see if it’ll run” tune up. 84 shovel did me the same way in 2020 after sitting 19 years… my pandemic lockdown build is what I called that one lol This real is cool though.

It sure was. We were pretty surprised too. We knew it had compression, and we verified spark, and gave it some fuel...but we had no idea it would light off so easy
