Come with me as we take a look at a new project car that I purchased.
What do I do with it?
We will also clean it out a bit and see what secrets it contains.

I found your videos on the 48 Chevy and since I have a 50 Styleliner I watched. You sir are a first class mechanic. And I got all excited about the ides of dropping my Chev off at your place, about a thousand miles away, not sure how that happens as she doesn't run, but no matter. Then, I thought I'd buy the house next door to you and pay you to come over to keep me pointed in the right direction of a complete rebuilding of all the mechanicals. Then I looked at my check book and buying the house next door to you might be a stretch right now, even if your neighbor was willing to sell. Then I see on this video, you have enough projects to keep you busy for about a decade, that and along with being a husband, a father and having a full time day job well my hopes are dashed. You are a gentleman, an honest hard working gentleman who knows his stuff. And I can't pay a higher compliment.

thanks a bunch for watching. I don't do anything that someone else can't. It just takes starting, a lot of pictures, labeling, and organization, and ambition.

I'm like you in that I have too many projects, mostly because I like to save vehicles that would otherwise go to scrap. I'm trying to negotiate with a neighbor to buy a 1937 Chevrolet 2 door sedan in much the same condition as this car. It's complete, but a huge project. Some of the glass is out and the interior is gone, but there doesn't appear to be any rust outs or dents anywhere, so I think it's solid and complete enough to be a feasible project. He isn't in the best of health, and his heirs would most likely scrap everything upon his passing. So, I'd like to try and save it for either myself or pass it on to someone who would be willing to invest the time and money it would take to restore it. Too much of our automotive history has disappeared already.

Interestingly here in Australia, our 48 Fleetmasters have rear hinge rear doors and divided back windows. My Chev is Canadian made Australia built.... this was the last of the Chevs that came to Oz before out Holden 48215 came on the market. PS thanks for your video......

Red thing is a jack, wing nut is for securing the spare tire maybe not this car) rotted cloth item is a winter front, probably not for this car. It looks like a 1938(wish) logo. Bendix item is part of a bicycle coaster brake.

How expensive can it get to restore a 48 fleet master ? Just a driver ?
@TheJayhawker
@TheJayhawker Жыл бұрын
Depends on the shop and the condition of the car you're starting out with. A full restoration without getting absolutely carried away by the details or modifications will easily hit 30-40k these days. If you have followed along on the '48 Stylemaster videos that I did, all of the work I did ended up around $15,000. But that was simply fixing all of the issues, not a full restoration.
