Looks like the guys who operated that turntable for a living back in the day got a very good daily leg workout.

Im pretty sure that RS2 used to be a switcher for a Paper Mill [Domtar] in Red Rock ontario. Man that yellow and the striped looks just like the one I used to watch when I was a kid in that town.

That's not a GM RS switcher, it is an Alco or MLW RS2. And that shiny turntable is what is called an "Armstrong" turntable, because it is unpowered and you need "strong arms" to operate it. In most cases, the engine has to be spotted perfectly centered on the turntable to balance it so the turntable, if the engine is to far one way or another, the table is much more difficult to move by hand.

That Armstrong turn table comes from Saint-Lin Qc. It was at the end of the CP line ( Saint-Lin sub ) that was dismantled in 1963. There was another one just like it in Rawdon, Qc. as well.
