As a welding instructor/inspector for 41 years at a major industrial refrigeration corporation, I was often asked what my expectation was regarding the level of quality I would accept. My answer was the the Constant Pursuit of Perfection. Your work is the embodiment of that principle.

Thank you Lyle, that was an incredibly nice thing to say. I have never been a half ass kind of guy. This truck is coming out way nicer than it was supposed to but I really don't any other way...

You give so many techniques that will be incredibly useful when I get to this point on my hood! Keep up the great work. I know it takes you a ton of time to film and edit all these videos. It's great to pass along your knowledge!

Thanks Doug. Doing these videos really slows the process down but it is nice to know it is helping others make their build that much nicer.

Almost no structure under those old hoods, especially when they are off the truck.

Very well taught. I learn a lot from your videos. We still have a lot of gravel roads where I live. The driver's side always gets more chips from the wheels of oncoming traffic kicking up rocks on that side when you pass each other on narrow gravel roads. Most people slow way down but some people not so much. Thank you for your time.

Never thought of that, makes perfect sense now. Thanks

Thanks Mark. I still have to get the hood on my '50 panel prepped. Luckily no speakers have fallen on my hood (last I checked). I am stealing your 1 x 2 hood support idea. I may try to add an upright in the middle at the seam.

The hood kept trying to walk off the rack but now it is solid and easy to handle. It is a big hood so watch your back.

Thanks for this video; I'm restoring my car and this was very helpful. Question: Why you did not apply epoxy primer to the bare metal dents? I thought that you need to apply epoxy filler + primer and then add filler.
@FoothillPaintandFabrication3 ай бұрын
@@miniprousa Thanks and you are welcome. Best practice is to apply body filler over epoxy but for this job since most of the truck is original paint it wouldn't be beneficial.

It has worked out really well so far and makes it so much easier to work on the hood without damaging it.
