1950s Sugar Crisp Commercial

Very early (but not the first) Sugar Crisp commercial featuring 3 Bears (!) and plenty of things you couldnt say on television today.

It's so funny that there was a time where advertising a cereal as "Sugar and candy coated!" was a valid selling point, whereas today "low in sugar" is the selling point.. Now every ad for a cereal does everything it can to downplay the amount of sugar in it and advertises all the iron and vitamins in it.

1950's Post Sugar Crisp cereal commercial tells a story about 3 little bears; Candy who's the oldest and an only female, is shown to be nice since she's kindhearted, enjoys singing, serves as Handy and Dandy's older sister and acts as a leader of the triplets, Dandy who's the second oldest, speaks with a strong deep voice and a rich baritone, is shown to be friendly, enjoys singing, serves as Candy's middle younger brother and acts as a follower, and Handy who's the youngest, is shown to be curious, enjoys singing, serves as Candy's second younger brother and acts as an animal lover; and together, they comes across a little boy named Johnny and a little girl named Janie who are both watching a tv set because they wish that they were getting hungry since they're a bit bored, helps them by bringing in a box of Post Sugar Crisp cereal whose cereal pieces were made of honey flavored sugary sweet puffs of wheat and are coated with spangled sugar crystals which tastes like candies.

I like how it describes how the box looks to the viewers at the end, like the giant “SUGAR CRISP” wouldn’t be enough to figure out it was sugar crisp.

The models here almost remind me of those 3D cartoon viewmaster reels from the 50’s-60’s. The Hanna Barbera ones come to mind.
