You're so lucky to find the original owners, and that they let you have it. Seen a few abandoned cars like this in my area where the owners are either gone or they don't want to give it up. Awesome story.

Great story. I bet if the vandals didn't get to it and the interior would've stayed all closed-up, it would've been quite nice. What an honorable thing to get it restored. The Catalina hardtop is a beautiful car. Good luck!

Thanks Johnny. Yes, this car was not the hot rod candidate. Between the model it was, completeness, and story behind it, a true restoration was the only way.

Greeting from Canada. You have begun an adventure in saving a car worthy of saving. I will also echo others in saying thank you fro not roding it. I have 1937 Pontiac 224 and love diving more than anything. There will be days when you say what the H E double hockey sticks have I got myself into but do not give up. Keep the vision of driving it down the road with that lovley young lady and it will help keeping you on task. Cheers

Hey man. What an awesome story. Us car guys love this stuff. The fact you were able to find the original owners wife was awesome. Growing up and seeing the car too. And the fact that Mr. Dominic was a decorated marine is just icing on the cake. The car itself is a top of the line highly optioned car too. I look forward to watching your progress on this car!

True barn find! Just imagine if it wasn't stored in the barn it would be so much worse! Amazing find and opportunity to access and chance to restore one, especially knowing full history of it! Most old cars in this shape off the road for 50 years the history is long forgotten.

Hi Jace… it must be fulfilling to acquire something that you liked for so long. It will be more enjoyable if your lady friend has a part in the process. You have a long road ahead but the journey will be worth it. I have a 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback that has 688,000 miles on it. I’ve been driving it for 50 years. I wish you the best in your restoration, and having such a helper will add to the memories you are creating. Bring it back!!!

I love the old Buick, Pontiac and Oldsmobiles of this era. It's a shame it had to get so stomped and kicked in. You are going to have to do some serious searching for replacement parts. There is a business named Kanter that has old unusual car parts. That engine looks rough, that cylinder looks like it is going to be an absolute bear to get out. I'll be looking forward to seeing your next video! Cheers Terry

Don't give up and you'll be a winner. I live close to PONTIWORLD (PW) at Oak Flats Australia who has many parts from the states which many not be available now in the US, contact me if you need any help. Oh, a good wire wheel will bring the engine head back to new, the rust is nothing. All the best of luck Jace.

I'm glad to see you're planning to get the Pontiac back in shape. I had a far gone 51 Pontiac Ambulance as a parts car for my 53 Catalina, and used its straight 8. Your project may not be inexpensive, short term or simple, but I think that you, as only its second owner, will have a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction from it - not only when it's done, but as you reach milestones of progress along the way. Best wishes!

Hi Stephen, you hit the nail on the head. I dont plan on it being cheap, but it sure will be worth it. I'd love to see some pictures of your Catalina, possibly the Custom Catalina?? 1953's name change from the Super Deluxe Catalina as I am sure you know
@stephenandloriyoung5716
@stephenandloriyoung5716 2 жыл бұрын
@@JaceAllen13 Mine isn't the Custom Catalina. I think its designation is Catalina DeLuxe Chieftain, so it came without the Custom's extra goodies, like leather seats, wider and fluted C pillar trim - (wait, hardtops don't have a B pillar in the usual location, so is the one at the rear of the roof really a C pillar?), different upholstery panels, and the exclusive colors. I was surprised, looking at Google Images this summer, to see my car. It was posted in a very brief recent item by Buffalo News, two shots taken when it was parked in front of our daughter's home when we were visiting several years ago. I found one shot of it just now, way down in the list from its position when I first saw it. Fame is fleeting.

When I was little in the late '50s and early '60s, my folks had a 51 Pontiac. I don't remember the model, but there's pictures of me as a toddler and the car. Dad was a career Marine and in '63 they traded it in on a new '63 Ford Fairlane wagon. I have a lot of memories of that old Pontiac and my Dad working on it. Great story and a great old car. I wish you luck with it and will be watching for future videos. I think that gas tank is going to take a little more than JB Weld to repair!! lol

I know what I'd like to do to those kids that broke the windows out of the car and vandalized it. But I can't. Pontiac's my favorite car and I hope you restore this old girl back to her former glory. Good luck

That old Pontiac is going to be quite a chore to restore, with many missing parts(including all the glass). The engine looks to be wasted also, but being a hard top, the first year for GM cars it's pretty rare. Can't wait to see the old Indian back on the road !

Hi Jerome, definitely going to be a labor of love. It’s a sentimental build for me so it is worth it. Also, 1950 was the first year for the hardtop for Pontiac. I have already purchased 3 other parts cars to complete it! I should have everything I need to complete it parts-wise

@@JaceAllen13 Brings back memories of the deluxe Pontiac I picked up for 100 dollars circa 1975 Got it running and driving, but the Hydramatic took a dump just as I was getting ready to move, so I sold it. If I had it to do over, I would have trailered it to my new house.
