Great story. I bet if the vandals didn't get to it and the interior would've stayed all closed-up, it would've been quite nice. What an honorable thing to get it restored. The Catalina hardtop is a beautiful car. Good luck!

I'm glad to see you're planning to get the Pontiac back in shape. I had a far gone 51 Pontiac Ambulance as a parts car for my 53 Catalina, and used its straight 8. Your project may not be inexpensive, short term or simple, but I think that you, as only its second owner, will have a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction from it - not only when it's done, but as you reach milestones of progress along the way. Best wishes!
@JaceAllen132 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephen, you hit the nail on the head. I dont plan on it being cheap, but it sure will be worth it. I'd love to see some pictures of your Catalina, possibly the Custom Catalina?? 1953's name change from the Super Deluxe Catalina as I am sure you know
@stephenandloriyoung57162 жыл бұрын
@@JaceAllen13 Mine isn't the Custom Catalina. I think its designation is Catalina DeLuxe Chieftain, so it came without the Custom's extra goodies, like leather seats, wider and fluted C pillar trim - (wait, hardtops don't have a B pillar in the usual location, so is the one at the rear of the roof really a C pillar?), different upholstery panels, and the exclusive colors. I was surprised, looking at Google Images this summer, to see my car. It was posted in a very brief recent item by Buffalo News, two shots taken when it was parked in front of our daughter's home when we were visiting several years ago. I found one shot of it just now, way down in the list from its position when I first saw it. Fame is fleeting.
