BUICKs of the late forties and early fifties were among the most beautiful cars ever made

I learned to drive in my Dad's '52 Buick Super with Dynaflow. Before that he had a '46 Roadmaster. I still remember the sound of the straight eight engine in the '46. A distinct sound. And they were built like tanks.

Yes sir. I remember back when GM’s divisions were individually built, I could tell by the sound if it was a Chevy, Pontiac, Buick, Olds, or Cadillac. The “plastic pigs” of today have no style or class. The only thing better are the safety features.

I take my hat off to the American engineers and metal suppliers to be able to form those guards , hood and trunk cover , truly brilliant engineering .
@doubledee9675 Жыл бұрын
Yes, those in the US were miles ahead of their European counterparts.
@bruceburns1672 Жыл бұрын
@@doubledee9675 As a metalworker myself I fully understand how steel fights back when it is being formed, I would love to talk to the engineers how can those bonnets and guards be formed without creasing , the recipe for the steel would have to be perfect for the job .
@doubledee9675 Жыл бұрын
@@bruceburns1672 Not a metalworker or engineer, but I do understand how difficult it is. The US engineers were well and truly ahead of their equivalents in Europe in sorting out these problems. Much as we now deride the tail fin era in car styling, the US was the only country where the necessary engineering could be done.

Back then, cars weigh as much as a tank. Sculptured in solid steel.

With chrome bumpers, not today's weak bumpers that dent easily. 😅

Awesome!...I will indeed. Does he live here in Bozeman or was it just "passing through" when I shot this video a couple years ago?...

I've got a 52 buick special 4 door. It's the ugliest damn car I've ever seen but for some reason I still like it.

You've got a gorgeous car to show and you do a 30 second video ? I really don't get the concept.
@JeffBakerUSA8 ай бұрын
It's not my car...my son and I stumbled on it in a parking lot. Absent breaking in and hot wiring it so we could hear the engine purr, what more would you and your "concept" have suggested? 🤔

Gracias
