Thanks, Andrea I love my truck. I don’t ever want to get rid of it… this is the only truck I’ve ever owned the truck market sucked in 2020 and it still sucks, frankly There are a couple more modifications that I would like to do it. I would really like a two speed rear and tilt bed, But those are all ideas on the back burner. I have other big plans this year that I won’t be able to do those lol

Even when it’s warm though, sometimes I pull the choke out to get up hills or something whenever it’s really hot outside so it doesn’t vapor lock the quad jet likes the vapor lock for some reason I might put the back on with the high-rise, but I’m not entirely sure it’s good. I figured I’ll just keep it that way until it doesn’t…

The truck is looking good even though it has snow on it. You have my sympathies for the cold temperatures. My uncle had a chassis mount camper over a 1964 1 ton Chevy with a 327. It had glasspacks. It sounded kind of cool and he never was harassed by the police for noise. Where I grew up near Boston they made glasspacks illegal in the 70's. If the police heard them you'd get pulled over and receive a fix it ticket.

You could control the sound with the throttle lol I think it would be cool. If I had enough money I could have a cut out. That thing sounds amazing with nothing on it. lol I had a 92 civic at a time and it was all what the kids would say riced out. I didn’t do that the car I bought it like that but I didn’t change anything and the fart can on it that sounded like pissed off bumblebee it was a five speed and there was a cop that would always sit at the blinker light so anytime I would go through there. It’s 35. I would have to push the clutch and it would go completely silent to go through that intersection, and then I would put it in a higher gear to kind of load it up so it wouldn’t be terribly loud. One time I went through the intersection and I swear they had a target on me for a while. I saw him pull out. He didn’t put his lights on. I cut up another way and turn my lights off and I saw him fly up to try to come catch me, what a rush of adrenaline, I didn’t do anything wrong. I wasn’t going faster or anything. I think he just wanted to check up on me. If I was some kid I think I was 23 at the time

@@What.its.like. I had a '73 Maverick with a 302 that I bought for $300 because it was all rotted out. It had no trunk floor and no fenders below rear of the top of the wheel opening. The guy who owned it before me just put a straight pipe from the front to the rear after the exhaust rotted out. If you didn't get on it, it was surprisingly quiet. Never had an issue with the police. But you could hear the stereo from a block away because the speakers were in the rear deck.

"If you drive them they keep running" Yes! My Dad has always told me about all machinery that it was designed to work, and it needs to be run in order for it to keep running. Even if it's not used frequently then at least run it at intervals. I've found this to be especially true for complicated devices that depend on precise timing, such as vehicle engines, sewing machines, and sergers.

Cool truck, Jay! The engine sounds pretty nice. You might want to check out Harbor Freight to see if they have cheapo carports or garages. I had a HF carport, which I bought for about $120 12 years ago. Other than having to tie it down REAL GOOD, it was decent for the $$. When I saw the thumbnail, I thought 'Gee, that looks like Jay's truck'. Glad I clicked on it!

I have my eyes on a shelter logic building similar to like what a greenhouse is, but it’s not transparent so this sunlight won’t come through and kill the paint.. she has this. They call it storage in a box and you just build it. I was going to anchor it to the ground somehow they make all kinds of sizes the one that I was thinking of getting was like 28 x 30 like 3500 bucks is a lot of money for me. I can’t really afford it right now but eventually it’s the fraction of what a garage would cost my taxes won’t go up because it’s considered movable.. Yeah, I’m happy you dig this one. I can’t believe it started up on the first try usually it’ll start up on the first try and then I’ll die and then you have to turn it over a couple more times and then it will go.. I love how the visor keeps all the snow off the windshield. It’s amazing that feature went away. That would be a really useful feature for a lot of people living in winter climates because as you could see there wasn’t any ice or snow on the windshield it’s not like that all the time, though I will say, come in handy

This thing had a great heater, but the heater core needs replaced. I had to bypass it. I got in it one day and there was a big puddle on the floor in the passenger side. I have driven it before whenever it was cold outside defrosters work amazing it’s like as soon as you put it on. It goes away… the heater in that truck better than any of the other heaters and any other vehicle I have. I love driving it at night. It has some of the best headlights because it sits up so high when you put the highbeams on you could see 3 miles down the road if it’s straight.

That is a sweet old truck, love the front guard setup ! By the way, snow, ice and winter weather do not rust old cars.... The insane addiction to road salt is what rots everything.. I'm so lucky to live on the west coast, though enough east coasters have moved out here that they have actually pushed local areas that get snowy winters to start using salt. They actually expressed shock and dismay that we don't generally salt the roads in snowy weather. Hopefully our generally more "eco friendly" scene out here will keep this (generally very useless) salt spreading from going too far. I grew up in Alaska prior to general use of salt and can tell you the practice is insanely stupid and half the time it just makes things more slippery and unpredictable. Oh, and I survived REAL winters without salted roads, and it's amazing how much safer clear windows are, no slush, and predictable surfaces.....

That truck is 72 or 73 years old, depending on the manufacture date. It cold started better than a 2014 Toyota Camry LE does, and part of that is the modern electronics drawing amps from the battery with the key turned off, and that's mainly the radio to remember the saved presets. The radio in that truck was made back when the preset buttons were mechanical "set it, forget it" setup. If I was making a radio for a modern car, I'd use as many mechanical components as I can while still retaining the quicker powerup that transistors offer over vaccum tubes.
@What.its.like.
@What.its.like. 15 күн бұрын
That radio is an aftermarket unit has Bluetooth connectability I didn’t put it in there. Whoever had the truck before me did I honestly never even really listen to it? I don’t think I think the speakers under the seat or behind it. I did listen to it a little bit on the way home when I bought the truck but it was a bit finicky. I bought the truck in Muncie, Indiana, which is 6 1/2 hours away from here and I drove it about 100 miles away from home and then had AAA tow it the rest of the way I bought it on a Sunday and all I had was the title the license plate Was from 52 and it didn’t belong to me or the guy I was asking my wife I said if we go through one of those tollbooth who gets the bill… lol that was the most stressful drive I’ve ever had because I didn’t know what any of the gauges were supposed to read and it’s like doing a Derek from vice grip type of deal. I didn’t fix anything. I just gave the guy the money and gave him a handshake and went down the road… lol How do you like your Toyota Camry? as far as new cars go or newer cars I’ve never had over 2016. You can’t go wrong with Toyota Honda. They run forever. I’ve only had that Toyota Prius is the only Toyota that I’ve had, but I’ve owned four Hondas three of which were vans

@ColtonRMagby 15 күн бұрын
@What.its.like. I never would've guessed the radio was aftermarket. It looks like it was always in that truck. My grandpa bought that Camry new when I was ten, and he bought it after he traded in a mid-2000s Camry that we had used since I was about six or seven for another 2014 Camry so my grandma would have a surprise birthday present on February 15th. I'm ten days shy of my 21st birthday, and I can't wait to see the live-action remake of How To Train Your Dragon. I might see it in the theater, I might not. Time will tell.

I should have given some contacts it has a different drivetrain. It has a 350 V8 with a quad jet carburetor. I only made that comment because it's the only car old car that I've had that had a manual choke that act like that even when it's hot, you can still accelerate engines by pulling a choke out, which comes in handy in the summertime, because it likes to vapor lock when it's hotter than 80 degrees outside

It has a 350 V8, but it’s carbureted four barrel carburetor so full pressurize oiling lubrication system it has an SM 420 transmission which I absolutely love. It’s like a three speed with granny gear. I wish that had like an overdrive but it doesn’t do I get 20 miles to the gallon of highway at 70 miles an hour in it there’s some modifications. It has a 373 rear end. It’s sitting on 19.5 radial tires… I was going to do a follow up. I finally got it dialed in right I’ll probably do the follow up in the spring. It will be like the five-year review.…

I don't know when that one coming I wanted to try and do some cool video things with it Put the whole point that I brought up to 2011 Honda is because my wife named both of the Honda vans well all three actually 2001 she called the pile which was a work van 2006 EXL big momma 2011 amethyst, sapphire

The Honda was a racer car for the lack of a better term. It was slammed to the ground. It literally sat maybe 2 inches off the ground. I didn’t do any of this stuff to it, but I didn’t change any of it either. I put the stock suspension on it because I got sick and tired of taking an angle you would get stuck on it. The person who owned it before me put a massive system in the back if you listen to Chicago, it sounded like the orchestra was behind you. It was insane. I really like that car. You could beat the crap out of that thing all day long and get 35-40 miles to the gallon . It had a B16A I THINK IT MADE 175 HP. IT WAS FRONT WHEEL DRIVE AND IT ONLY WEIGHED 1300 POUNDS SO 175 HP AND A CAR THAT DOESN’T WEIGH THAT MUCH IT WAS FAST YOU COULD BURN OUT IN FIRST GEAR GEAR AND CHIRP GEAR, WHICH WAS PRETTY IMPRESSIVE CONSIDERING IT FRONT WHEEL DRIVE. I don’t know why it went all capitals whenever I hit. Send.

That’s awesome. The 216 was long gone when I got my truck. It had 327 V8 in it when I bought it that was the whole reason I bought it was because every single truck before 1975 they all have the same problem when you get into the one ton that’ll go over 55 miles an hour. I wanted one that would go high speed. This one would go high speed, it had a 373 rear ended it as well as a four speed stick when I bought it it would go about 70 top It started knocking the engine did, and my wife’s not really into classic cars or any of that stuff and she told me if it cost more than $1000 to fix it. I had to sell it a good friend of mine. He’s like you buy the parts I will build your engine or replace it or whatever he was a mechanic. He’s a retired mechanic and he was bored and he wanted something to do. Found out that it needed a new crankshaft summit racing was willing to sell me a crankshaft a forged one, but I didn’t need a forged one. This engine was gonna make 150 hp at most. I ended up finding a 350 for 400 bucks and he was able to find a sm 420 transmission for $250. Honestly, that’s why I love these older cars. You could still get some parts cheap depending on what it is, of course.

A few years before that, I put a 2.5" dual turbo muffler system on my parents' 1974 1/2 Ford Grand Torino Elite which had a 400 c.i. V8. It sounded like the "Starsky & Hutch" Torino. A Thundering beast but was quiet at cruise. Because we towed a big ski-boat, I also put some "Hi-Jacker" air shocks on the back with an onboard Schrader Load Tamer vacuum-powered air compressor. The hand throttle isn't hooked up I never had a choke that operated like that one because I can pull it out after engine is hot and it will still advance engine speed the one one the 67 mustang after it was warmed up if when pulled would kill the engine or start missing ( it's a cool feature in the summer because it negates vapor lock or have better control over the issue ) Going to do a 5 year review of it this year and go over all the ins and outs talk about insurance where to buy parts etc
