1952 Strange Terrors 6 100 page square-bound pre-code horror book crushed flat! Let's fix it!

Join me as i disassemble and conserve this 70 year old 1952 100 page squre bound classic comic book! The spline was completely crushed flat! So much so that that it appeared to be a stapled book. The ancient binding glue was completely crystalized which caused additional work to separate the cover from the book for repair! Each page was then individually separated from the bind and then de-acidified. Stay tune for part 2.

This one’s a long journey. Each one of the individual 100 pages has to be treated and I am tackling it between other projects.

I don’t think I’ve seen a project on conserving or fixing square-bound books before. I need to work on a Giant X-Men #1 whose front cover was torn and taped to the spine. I already removed all the tape and was thinking how to put the book back together. Very similar approach perhaps. God-sent! Nicely done, Larry.

Jerry the Jitterbug has done one. Link provided. I love all the strategies. I take a little from this channel, JtJs channel and Liberty Hill Comics. They all add value. I definitely love the heated press drying method I learned on thus channel.

You did lose some graphics in the black. This happens to me frequently and I can't figure out how to prevent. Wish you mentioned that.
