I felt the same. I loved the original patina but then saw the rust issues on the door bottoms. I thought the original patina clear coated and all would have made a great looking old woody surf wagon. I am shocked they redid/made all that wooden part. Still love what they did tho, it is amazing.

My dad bought a 51, or 52 Buick, new, when I was about 6 years old. He stayed loyal to Buicks for the rest of his life. My uncle referred to them as "The Stone Crushers" I always got a kick out of that. It just never got old. 😂🤣😂

Beautiful Restoration. The pictures don't do this woodie justice. To see this car in person is to see an incredible frame off restoration. The color looks light in the pictures, but it is teal blue like the cowl tag says. The wood work by Ron Heiden is stunning. I can't believe the original interior was in such great condition. I had no idea that this was the first year for the Nail Head V8. Had to look it up. The original wire wheels are a great upgrade as you could have ordered them from the factory in 1953. I am glad you restored the front brakes and kept them, and then swapped some discs for drivability in our modern roads of stop and go traffic and people who try to stop on a dime in front of you. If you ever drove one of these beauties, you would know that stopping takes some room, and in the bay area you need all the stopping you can get. Thank you for sharing this beautiful restoration

Saw the south san francisco name on the flatbed, then caught Brizio's shop name very briefly. They did it right, but that's how they work. Love the job they did, upgrades where they're best but unnoticed. Those spoke wheels are a very nice touch, brought a little more balance to the styling. Now that rare car will will be around for many more years to come, making it's owners as well as all who appreciate cool old cars happy.

Awesome car, never seen a Woody Buick Station wagon before. I didn't know they made those in the Ionia plant. I remember that plant sitting empty in the late 70s and 80s when I was a kid. It was a big plant right on M66 in town. My Grandfather worked there doing fiberglass and my Uncle also for a short time.. I remember it having General Tire written on the side of the plant, must of been bought by them. Unfortunately it has been tore down for a long time. Cool history that I never knew until I seen the Ionia Body sticker and looked it up. Long ways from here to Oregon. Nice work on the restoration it turned out beautifully.

Thank you for doing this right and allowing this car to be exactly what it is, a `53 Buick wagon. It's great when somebody has the funds available to do it right without a lot of Appalachian ingenuity. Thanks also for not lowridering it. Stock height looks best. Very nice work! You didn't even hang any fuzzy dice on the rear view mirror! In the old days when cars like this were cheap and plentiful, they were just old pieces of junk and nobody cared about them. The butchers and hacks had open season to do as they pleased with them, which was usually pretty hideous. But now they're all getting scarce, and it just seems like the right thing to do is to preserve them as close to original as possible, just as you have done with this one. As for the guys who build the dragsters, low rider pimp wagons and soulless high tech modernizations, I respect their private property rights to do as they wish, but I get a little nauseous when I see somebody butcher up a cool piece of history. Thanks again for not doing that!!

New subscriber, here... WOW! This restoration is just completely OFF the HOOK! I was already loving this car as it was, when you found it, and I thought it looked like your end product was along the lines of an ICON Derelict. But as it progressed, and I saw that you completely restored it to it's correct spec, I was just blown away by your obvious skill sets. My jaw is on the floor. This car turned out SO beautifully! I would love to hear you tell the story verbally, how you happened to find the car, and to detail all of the lengths that you had to go to, in order to arrive at this exquisite result. I would think that parts for this car must be terribly difficult to find, and very expensive to acquire. Was it more or less complete, inside and out? Looks like you must have had the bumpers, door handles, trim, and all, re-chromed. That, alone, must have been quite costly. I see that you performed at least a few modern upgrades, like the disc braking system. Did you use a chassis from a modern donor vehicle? And how did you go about reproducing all of the woodwork components? Were you able to reproduce them in-house, or did you subcontract that out? In every aspect this car is flat-out, drop-dead gorgeous! Do you have a video where you tell this car's story?

Beautiful! I believe Buick was the last to offer a station wagon with a real wood body maybe in the '53-54 model year? They were also (along with Chevy) the last to offer a full-size station wagon in the US.

That Buick is absolutely beautiful... Great work, guys! The only thing that Buick used to do (funny for such an 'upmarket' make) was use only either stark black or stark white steering wheels... That car is CRYING for a dark tan wheel, to match the upholstery! I wonder why Buick didn't color-key those? Cheers!

Kennedy/Johnson bumper sticker. X-frame AND perimeter frame must be very sturdy. The portholes are actual holes - not stickon chrome bits. Original steering wheel is beautiful. Someone put seatbelts in it sometime in the past. Seatbelt mounts but not belts [except Ford] were added to American cars in 1963. Real wire wheels but I hope the original wheel covers were saved. I think 1953 was the last year actual wood was used on GM station wagons. Car is a handsome design - better looking than the sedans. 1953 first year of V8, last year of 1949 body. Looks like it still had kingpins; ball joint came in 1954. Thanks for not restomoding it and especially not putting giant hideous wagon wheels on it.
