From MG - in England - Chassis number TD/C20686, an EXLNA ( EXport; Left hand drive; North America) specification, with original factory fitted engine XPAG/TD3/20483 is confirmed in our Factory Production records as built at Abingdon on - October 8 1952. It would have been shipped to USA following that date, but would probably have arrived at its ultimate initial dealership sales location in USA late in 1952, and been subsequently sold and initially registered in early 1953; and hence would be described as a 1953 model.

Does not appear to be a 1953 unless the rear fenders were swapped out for 52 or earlier. Could be a 52 first registered in 53. Andrex shocks ? Higher compression.? Cyl head work. MK II plate ? Proper brass plate with MG TD C ? My first car was a 1953 MG TD MK II purchased in 1964 for the princely sum of $400. All original. Interesting car.

Well known in MG world is a car built in 52 gets to the US in time to be registered as a 53. This car has been verified as to its provenance.
