I miss running our old SuperM. They have a sound of their own especially straight piped. I am 64 now but at 12 and 13 years old it felt like I was on top of the world. Love that old RED POWER!

What a fine job of moldboard plowing being done. Young farmers please take note of why crop rotation of small grain or hay and the moldboard plowing of corn stalks, small grain stubble and hay is good for the ground.

Beautiful looking rig! That early Farmall equipment was built to last.

Can definately tell its got more HP than a hi-dome piston MTA and Super M I've got. Shiny moldboards on that plow. Plenty of frame, front and rear wheel weights to get that job done. Great to see its restored.

I was 6 when I drove a Super M the first time. From then on could not keep me off tractors.

I bet you manifold is pretty hot that Super M is tuned perfectly no sputtering burning even across the bord that’s the way to get some work done make sure your equipment is up for the job absolutely beautiful there’s just no words !!😀🇨🇦

Wow i never knew the super M could pull a 4 bottom, those M's & super C's were good tractors back then, & still great tractors to this day ....very durable, & have good power ...
@briandietrich13733 жыл бұрын
I never would have guessed that either!

Pulls it mainly because it's 4" in the ground, not 8 where it belongs
@cdjhyoung Жыл бұрын
@@RJ1999x He's plowing just fine. He's able to do it because of the M&W kit he has in that engine. We had the same thing in a 1953 Super W6. We pulled 4-16's with ease. Our tractor probably was giving us 65-70 horsepower. Makes all the difference in the world. We also had a 1949 M that struggled with 3X14's.

Just Subscribed. A stock M has 248 cubes. A super M has 264. That super M with the M&W overbore kit likely has 286 cubes. The oversize rear tires make it be able to get the extra Hp to the ground.

My uncle has a Super M that's propane and I keep telling him to go plow with it. Might have to do it myself this labor day.

Super M with an M&W kit. Probably making 65 horse power. Such a pretty sound for a guy that grew up listening to that same fine song so many days.

And is probably partly deaf as a result😂
@cdjhyoung Жыл бұрын
@@jeanbrandt2624 I'm partly deaf for sure. But it is more because of running a corn sheller in a metal pole barn for years and then working in a factory for 38 years. I can hear my grand daughters, that's all that matters. A souped up M wasn't much louder than a regular M even if you only used the stock muffler.

Perfect plowing yes

It wouldn't pull a 4bottom in the hills and in clay ground. Dad always plowed 8 to 10 inches deep. Our super m handled 314 in find shape. He made it talk!
@robertnymand98893 жыл бұрын
He has that super m right up to snuff. He would have to back off a bottom in the hill country.

Beautiful tractor. The operator ain't so bad looking either. I wish my stepfather's Farmalls had these upgrades during the 50's and 60's. It would have changed his low opinion of red tractors. His family had an H, then upgraded to an M, and finally to a Super M. Even the Super M used to die pulling 3-14s on our hilly farm. He always said they didn't have enough power, and he had to strap gas cans to them to keep them going in the field.

Good day I'm from Ont. Canada. Back when we farmed we had SW-6, yes going up hill was a real problem sometimes pulling 3 furrow plow. But he basically has a 656 or more. Thanks

It looks like he was in 4th gear. I didn't know a super m could pull 4 14s that fast.
@cdjhyoung Жыл бұрын
That's third with the governor turned up to spin at 1650 rpm instead of 1450 which is the stock setting. But you're right, that 13% increase in speed is almost like running a gear higher.
@bryanblood70634 жыл бұрын
This is the first video I've ever watched of yours. On my family farm we have 4 international and a narrow from M we never we able to do what you were pulling we use a 3x14 and that was about all it could do to where the wheels would spin sometimes. Do you have a super M to where it was more hp than the M I'm not sure I just always remember my uncle saying the m wasnt much more hp than the h. But the 1206 he had was what did all the heavy lifting.

This kind of plow rig in era took about one horsepower per inch of plow width. Heavier soils, maybe more hp. An M was designed to pull a plow with a 42 inch width in most situations. With the same kind of engine modification as this fellow has we were able to pull 64 inches of plow width about 10% faster than stock speed in 3rd. We figured our tractor was turning out 65-70 hp. But it wasn't easy on gas. Had to fill up every five hours or walk back to the barn for a gas can. And you really didn't want to heat soak my dad's favorite tractor engine by running it out of fuel.
