I sure do appreciate you posting this! I spent many years and thousands of hours on those models of tractors... (I'm 76) The M was a 52, but I don't remember what the H was... But they were both workhorses! Plus, I've always loved the smell of freshly turned ground😊... So, a big thank you from me!!

Boy, that brings back memories, steel wheels rattling on a gravel road, the purr of a 4 cylinder engine, and the smell of fresh turned topsoil mixed with a whiff of hot oil.. nothing like looking back on neat furrows.

You learned me how to make the first passes and get the land started...Thanks so much!!! It worked great... BTW, research shows that fantastic IH plow was put into production in 1928 and was built for about 30 years.

Those mold boards behind the M were pretty well polished by the time your video captured them. I recall carrying a scraper to clean them at each row end until they polished up. The soil at our NW Indiana farm was a sandy loam which polished those plows nicely. Our Illinois land looked much like yours and took a few more passes to clean up. Always followed up with grease on the plow surfaces to keep them shining, but it never seemed to last on equipment stored outside. I also remember buying plow points at Tractor Supply. Good memories!

Excellent tutorial on how to start your lands...I have been doing it all wrong and worked from the outside inward...I purchased a nice 1949 Farmall M gasser in 2011, a 1956 Farmall 450 LP in 2017, and a 1965 Farmall 706 Diesel with IH engine in 2019...They all 3 are running... after considerable work on the first two that were dead for 10-15 years and parts missing. The 706 was purchased in running condition last month, but needs new tires, the tractor included a front loader with bail spear and 8' scrapper blade that came with it for $4k...I have the same IH 2 bottom trip plow on steel you have, (research showed that wonderful plow was made from 1928 to about 1960), and I own a JD 3 bottom with hydraulic lift that has not been tested yet, and apparently I'll need a 4 or 5 bottom plow for the 706 Diesel...Thanks for the turorial. I learned a lot from your experience...God's speed on your future endeavors...DP PS. I'm going to pick up an AC-72 combine this weekend...I've been looking for one for 5 years and one finally popped up about 400 miles from me in good condition and resonable price.
