When I started watching your videos a year ago I didn’t realize I’d have a ‘55 Nomad “project car” in my garage. It’s still fairly original but a 3 speed manual car which I’m changing to a Powerglide. I need this video!

Another great video very helpful (my turn signal switch was soldered the right way) you just saved me hours of trouble shooting the horn assembly, will be sanding the center of steering wheel

It really helps to see all of these parts laid out. I tore into my column soon after I got the car, and had all kinds of problems getting everything put back together and working (it was sorta together when I got the car, but nothing was actually working. I had not learned yet to get the parts ahead of time, and long story short, I wanted to get back to driving the car, so one of my turn signals does not cancel.

The bracket with the slot is 57. Bracket with pins is 55/56. If that bracket is installed without that special lock washer the turn signal won’t move properly.

Very helpful video! I'm watching this to get an idea of how to take my 57 column apart. I've got to the where I'm taking the shift collar off. I can't get it off. Any idea what is holding it on and what I should do? The wheel and blinker parts came off and I unscrewed the 3 screws that held it to the shift collar. That bugger wont budge. Thoughts?

Great tips. Was hoping to see the column assembly. Been looking and have not found a assembly on KZbin. Trying to figure out what goes on the inside of the tube, especially at the bottom. Will research some exploded views and see if I can find a good one. Subscribed as it looks like you may have many helpful videos.

Nice video on details. The only thing I think you forgot was the spring brass pin that runs on the slip ring in the steering wheel and to lube the moving parts with lithium grease.

Nope. I didn't forget. This is not a column build video.

Your turn signal switch wasn’t soldered on backwards, that switch is for a pickup or Corvette.

Tilt is nice I guess but after seeing a factory column in these cars for over 50 years the tilt flavor looks like the chubby girl at the prom. Mine will have the factory one but the shifter is in the floor. Great tips I will use them when I take mine out for paint.

You must have gotten the right hand drive turn signal switch. lol. You need to show how to run the turn signal wires through the column. That always take me longer then I want. The repo horn plastic parts are not the best too.
