I would like to see what the end of that truck was, how was the restoration, my father had a truck just like that
@RustRehab3 жыл бұрын
@@oswaldohernandezruiz5195 progress has been way slower than I hoped on this truck, I can only work on it for about half the year and its currently wrapped up for winter. I know I won't have it finished next summer, but I would like to have it running and perhaps have the brakes done too. Do you have any photos of your father's old truck? Feel free to link them here if you do!

This is another great video. You are a smart resourceful guy. You displayed an impressive, well though out removal, especially considering your slope. I like the recycled winch.
@RustRehab4 жыл бұрын
The slope has been a real pain sometimes, but I'm pretty lucky to have such a large paved space so it's worth it for sure. Now if I can only convince my wife to let me sell all our possessions so I can buy a garage big enough for my truck, I'll be set :D

@@RustRehab Good luck. Let the group know how that turns out. 😅

The younger the vehicle the more connections and complications , but take your time and it may take some time to get to drive it on the road ,it will be worth it . The rear body choices will keep you planning long and hard. Will be watching and hoping you are able see it thru
@RustRehab4 жыл бұрын
Me too! I had some set backs this year with the drivetrain, it really slowed me down. Next year I hope to have it moving around under its own power, If I'm lucky I might be able to get a road inspection on it before I have to put it away for fall. I'd be happy just to have it moving though!

@@RustRehab when I say on the road , I m say able to drive it in your neighborhood , with needing a engine and connecting so much that takes time to figure out and rewiring will take time . Yup time to close for the winter and make plans for next year.

Love those classic spoker wheels....got to keep them and swap a 6bt cummins... it's just begging for one..!
@RustRehab3 жыл бұрын
A 6bt was exactly what I wanted to put into it when I first bought it, but there's not enough room in the engine bay unfortunately. Plus the rear end is geared so low ill have to stick with gas to get anywhere near highway speed. I have a 454 now sitting in my garage just waiting for a transmission to arrive so I can get my mounts made up and welded in :D

That winch worked like a charm! 🙂👍
@RustRehab4 жыл бұрын
Thank god for that winch. The slope there doesn't come through well on camera, but its enough that I can't move the crane uphill on my own. I'm not sure what I will do when its time to start positioning the motor, I think I might actually rent a forklift maybe?

Those are drilled and safety wired....no lock tite in 1956...!
@christianjones18504 жыл бұрын
That wire you broke on the bolts is saftey wire. We use it in aviation for just about everything you wouldn't want to back off in flight. Its twisted around there so if one bolt was to start to loosen then the other would tighten it and vice versa.

Ohh okay, that makes sense. Thanks for letting me know!

Thanks! It's been quite a journey. Part of me wishes I bought something with better part availability, especially in Canada, but this way it's forcing me to learn a little more so it's probably for the best.

Good Job! Fun to watch someone else go through what I have gone through also. I have a 1961 International B180 which is a slightly newer version by 6 years to your R 180. I do have all the service manuals for the old truck.

I love the look of the B series! I actually saw a smaller 1 ton B series here for sale a few months back but I couldn't get to it in time. You should do a video showcasing yours if you still have it, I would love to see it

Was looking forward to what you found inside the engine !
@RustRehab4 жыл бұрын
It's long gone now :( I saved a few bits off it that I thought someone might be able to use but I can't find anyone to take them. It's a lot of money to ship them to the USA from here, but if someone wants an intake/exhaust manifold and carb I have them both still.
@georgestringam6894 жыл бұрын
There’s a lot of people looking for parts for those old Black Diamond engines. I hope you salvaged everything that wasn’t broken. If this was mine I would’ve done everything I could to keep a BD under the hood. But parts are getting hard to find not to mention expensive. You probably made a wise decision with the Chevy engine....
@RustRehab4 жыл бұрын
I really wanted to keep it, but I that block was cracked and filled with water. I tried to save the cam shaft and rods later on, but they were also soaked and badly rusted. The only thing I managed to save was the intake/exhaust manifold and the carb. I still have them, shipping is so much from my area that I literally can't give them away
