I will never forget this car that was featured early on the 1956 movie Back from Eternity made by RKO Radio Pictures that featured Robert Ryan, Anita Eckberg, Gene Barry and in a cameo also early in the movie that was her mkvie debut Barbara Eden as photojournalist. I saw that movie on the Late Show on CBS TV ch.2 New York back in the 1960s. 😊

The IMPERIAL ceased being a Chrysler model in 1955...when it was launched as a separate, distinct make and division of Chrysler Corporation, just like Plymouth, Dodge and DeSoto. From 1955 on , the MAKE was IMPERIAL. The MODELS were Custom, Crown, or LeBaron. It was NOT a "Chrysler" of ANY kind, nor did the "Chrysler" name appear ANYWHERE on the car.

Technically in 1956 it was produced by the "Imperial Division of Chrysler Corporation". So, yes, the name Chrysler does not appear anywhere on the car but you are incorrect on model designations for 1956. The Custom, Crown and LeBaron didn't become became separate models until 1957. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_(automobile)

Thanks for acknowleding and responding. This is from Wikipedia: For the 1955 model year, the Imperial was launched and registered as a separate marque (make), apart from the Chrysler brand. It was a product of the new Imperial Division of Chrysler Corporation, meaning that the Imperial would be a make and division unto itself, and not bear the Chrysler name.[1][4] Chrysler Corporation sent notices to all state licensing agencies in the then-48 states that the Imperial, beginning in 1955, would no longer be registered as a Chrysler, but as a separate make .

That was an especially attractive interior. Great color combination. Always thought the Imperials looked best with cloth seats.

"Ach du lieber, mein schatz"! What a gorgeous "boat without sails"!! The colors are really great, inside as well as outside! I was 15 when this car was made - way too young to consider buying one, & it would have been "out of my class" anyway! I did "seem" to notice that the bottom of the left front door was a "tad" more "yellow" than the rest of the white body (light cream?!). "Gesundheit"!!!

A very attractive car, modern but avoiding the extremities of the Cadillac. All in all, a worthy opponent for the dying Packard. At times the image is not that clear. Is that woodgraining or real wood on the doors and behind the instruments please?
