Great video .I had mine in built in 81 😳 duel carbs with 92mm and close ratio 3rd gear in trans axle but I kept breaking the cone so had to make a plate to weld to the frame

Is Dutch from Dutcher's that was in Bellflower, California? Artesia Blvd. right around Bellflower Blvd. was the shop I remember. I'm from Manhattan Beach and worked at Buggie Builders of Hermosa Beach (Darcy, the Canadian owner had a shop drag bug!) I was about 17 years old and built myself an experimental engine in my bedroom! It was a duaalport 1239cc (64mm x 88mm) I had 041 heads, a reground 110 cam and a set of 40mm ict carbs i believe....Lightweight flywheel with 200mm clutch surface. It was an early bus flywheel to fit inside my 1962 bug transaxle. It was just a fun first build for me. It took me 6 months of paychecks to put everything together. It sounded awesome and powerful with it's short stroke and dual quiet power mufflers. I could get the jump off the line on the 1835 guys only until the end of 2nd gear.... As I got older I started looking at SCAT stroker crankshafts, clearanced engine cases and low ratio transaxles. Custom big valve heads were only something I could dream about back then. When I get access to a shop to make projects I will for sure start messing with cylinder heads. Filling the entire combustion chamber area with aluminum using stick welder and aluminum rods and after a flycut, learn how to seat monster valves and create awesome combustion chambers that will make big power.

That '56 is pretty sweet, and sounds wicked. I got the same monster tach in my '59 ratty tatty bug but the big bore 40hp engine now in the car ain't gonna spin the tach up to its 10k rpm limit haha. 2332 is waiting patiently on my workbench lol.
