Pat Boone in the 1957 film Bernardine, Dick Sargent from Bewitched also has a pretty large role, I do NOT own this film, no copyright infringement intended, just sharing an old recording.

Saw this movie as a kid of 12 or 13. Brought back vivid memories and decided to write about that amazing experience like it happened yesterday.
Interesting movie. It's hard to imagine in this day and age that this innocent movie was big among teens in '57. Pat Boone acted like a rich arrogant 1957 teenager, I as very glad to hear him sing "Love Letters in the sand" and Dick Sergant did a fine acting job. A nice, innnocent movie that entertains you for nearly 2 hours.

Wholesome Charles " Pat " Boone . Among his peers . A southerner like Elvis . He had a clean cut image that made Ricky Nelson seem almost like a Brando rebel . Oldies of 50's and 60's from 'April Love', 'Bernardine' with Pat Boone's beautiful rendering of those romantic songs that used to be played on 78 RPMs in the studios of All India Radio, Calcutta B station and the apartments of the Anglo-Indian localities stir up nostalgia of the great city of Calcutta where I grew up.

Pat Boone was on the outs but I remember his songs... some people thought he was a jock I guess... it was the girls who swooned over all the big stars of that time... and there were a lot of stars... Annette and Hayley were my idols... I think a lot of boys were jealous of the many male stars that came along and made us faint and swoon.....as for the corn we didn't know any better than what these movies offered.

One of the coolest movies I can ever remember from my childhood years in the 1950's. Believe it or not, there was a time when Pat Boone and his 'white bucks' were considered 'cool'. A lot of hit records (thanks to Chuck Berry and Little Richard (among others)). He had his own TV show, too. Then along came the Beatles, and Pat suddenly became 'passe'. Didn't matter to him (I am guessing). He had already made his name in history. (I'll forgive him the 'religious' crap he became known for later in life). Anyone who launches a 'biker' album in the 1990's, long after his original days of fame were over, can't be anything but cool. Cheers to Pat Boone!!

HI JESUS, is the ONLY one doing any forgiving! Shalom to you in Christ Yeshua.
@ArsPraestigium5 жыл бұрын
rusher33707 The “religious crap” to which you refer was the biggest part of Boone’s life from the beginning. He studied for and worked in the ministry from his days as a teenager in (Nashville) high school, working with kids and singing in church. He married the daughter of then-country music star Red Foley at 19, and stayed married to her (she died just last week, as it happens) for 65 years. Elvis and Pat Boone traded places in the top 40 regularly from 1955 to 1959, with Boone actually having one more hit song by the time the rivalry ended. Though Boone was married (and had four daughters by the time he finished college at Columbia University), he was still idolized by teenage girls. His Christian faith has always been the primary guiding influence in his life, and not something he happened upon later.

This Pat Boone starrer did not enjoy the success story of April Love and Mardi Gras, but Pat did get to belt some very memorable songs from his vast repertoire: Love letters in the sand, Bernadine [the title track] and Technique. Terry Moore was in and out of the film without having a specific reason for being in it. Some roles in films are quite pointless.
