Seen this movie when I was 13-14 years old and it led me to Jesus 😊 I was 14 but started backsliding when I was 17 …for 20 years i backslid but I came to the Lord after becoming an alcoholic for 10 years. I got sick and had insomnia for a month. I had alcohol withdrawals and I cried alright to God for help, he helped me that morning. I ended up in the hospital and have been sober since. God is good and He never leaves. Even though I don’t deserve His grace and forgiveness He helps. ❤❤❤ and heals.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Someone needs to update this movie and bring it into the 21st century. There's a current generation dying for redemption!
@juliapom9115 Жыл бұрын
Why? This is a true story about David Wilkerson and how God worked in his life. We cannot change the date of his birth to suit people, he was born in 1931 and died in 2011, if the movie is up-dated it would no longer be true.
@armedinbama Жыл бұрын
@juliapom9115 First, I did not say to update the timeline, only the movie. This movie, as made in 1970, is not relatable to today's youth. They will not take the time to watch it of their own accord, and those who are made to will not give it the attention required to understand the message. Technology and standards of film making have jumped light years in the past 50-odd years. This could be utilized to make the movie relatable to today's youth, get and hold their attention, and stay true to the book. (Even more so than this movie, if we're both honest.) Thanks for asking and taking the time to read my reply. 😊👍

I came from an Evangelical family. We were made to sit down and watch this film aswell as a movie called "thief in the night". Both films promoted the worship of an entity called YAHWEH through a flesh form of that same entity called Jesus. Thats what the preacher in the movie was trying to get the various gangs to do. If the gangs would have simply read the Old Testament they would have discovered that YAHWEH was a million times more sadistic than the gangs ever were. None of the gangs in the movie killed little babies - but YAHWEH ordered the killing of little babies many times in the Old Testament. However, the Bible does contain some excellent historical records of the everyday lives of Black and Asian people outisde of the general tribal folklore stuff. Its a Black and Asian history book mixed in with some egotistical stories of war.

David Wilkerson had another gospel. He talked grace through faith but.... Jesus is Lord God Almighty clothed in unsinful humanity and He is the author of *eternal life* to all who trust Him alone for salvation. Jesus paid for all the sins of all the world at the cross (past, present, and future). That payment is put to your account when you have believed on Christ alone for salvation. This means that saving repentance is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before, if indeed you trusted in anything; to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation.
@JustJeph33 Жыл бұрын
Right, he preached all that (basic), and so much more! Example: America's Last Call 1998, writing of the economic crash 10 yrs before the fact... that's one of many. I exalt not the man, but the God he loved and served...amid great, continual trials. 2 Timothy ch. 3

This film and story are set in the Fort Greene housing project, Brooklyn, New York, in 1953-1957, specifically Nicky lived at 54 Fort Greene place. And factually speaking if you're from Chicago in that era you really can't comment that it's all wrong, for the simple fact you have no experience of that city during that period. Chicago in the 50s and New York in the 50s had similarities but you can't say one was just like the other.

Both New York and Chicago had their Bishop gangs. The Bishops and Mau Mau were big NYC gangs. The Mau Mau's numbered 1,000 strong.
