The '57 is the classiest looking of '50's Caddys. In the '60's my Aunt & Uncle had a '57 Sedan Deville. It was the first time I ever saw power windows and I was mesmerized. I remember my aunt saying "Please don't touch the window buttons anymore because anytime you touch anything in this car it costs us $100 to fix." My Uncle drove me and my cousins up to NH in that car and I remember looking at the speedometer and we were over 100 MPH. My Uncle said to me "whatever you do don't tell your mother, she'll kill me." I was in heaven because I could tell my friends that I went 100 MPH. Cool video on one of my favorite Cadillacs. Thanks Lou!

I remember this Cadillac mostly from riding in the back of Station Wagons with family and friends. We would look at the 'Faces' of cars right behind us and this 57 was one of my favorites. I had an Uncle that owned this car and many other Cadillacs. It seemed like all my Uncles had cool cars when I was growing up. (these were men that were from the WWI era) Thanks Lou. In the beginning and through the 60's, Cadillacs were so special. This '57 is such a great example of that. Can't say much for the look of Caddy's today - nothing special about them. Just take a look at the front end of this 57. BEAUTIFUL. Everything is over the top and fits together so nicely. I could not find one thing that should be changed. OMG - the sound is the best part!!

When I in high school, I worked part time at the standard station at Milwaukee and Lake Avenue. I remember when certain cars would come in I’d be looking for the gas cap some of them. I learned after the first time I don’t recall that Cadillac opening I remember the Volkswagen beetles they had to open the trunk in the front and you put the gas up in that area, that’s what cars were cars

Early Volkswagens did not have a fuel gauge. They had a reserve tank that you could activate when the main tank ran out of gas. Later ones had a fuel gauge so you didn't have to guess when you needed to refill the tank.

Hey Lou, thanks for what you're doing. I'm 67 and these old boats are the best cars ever made. 2 things I wish you would do in your videos. Slow down as you pan across things such as the dash of a car, they are works of art!. Second - before you go to film a car - get more familiar with that car, do some research. So when you point something out you don't need to be corrected by the owner. PLEASE! Take this all, as compliments to what you do. KEEP DOING MORE!

Hey Listen Channel, # 1) Yes I agree I should slow down. # 2) No researching before hand as that's what keeps it exciting (kinda like knowing what your Christmas present is before Christmas day) # 3) are you watching the commercials in full and not skipping them before the videos so I can get paid so I can keep sharing with you? My pleasure sharing with you and thanks for the tips, and I'll KEEP DOING MORE! :-) Lou

Cool car! I don't think that the exhaust was that loud when the car was new. The Park shift indicator identifies it as the 315 model HydraMatic. The previous model HydraMatic continued to be used in light trucks into the 1960's and Rolls-Royce bought the equipment and rights to manufacturer this earlier model, using it in their cars through 1967 with the Euro spec first Silver Shadow. After that, they bought the TH400 from GM for many years.

Quite elegant, but not the most elegant car. It does exceed at commanding the respect of the beholder. It also looks like a loose prelude to the '58 Chevy! I've noticed that the '54 Buick, Olds, and Cadillac, all already had the more modern '55-'57 Chevy look to them, with the Chevy and Pontiac looking more antiquated with their early '50s profiles. This Cadillac really typifies the lowering greenhouse lines of the era. That underdash speaker grill looks like the grill of a '70-'73 Camaro RS split bumper!

As beautiful as this car was when it came out, the difference between what Chrysler was coming out with, like the DODGE, PLYMOUTH, CHRYSLER, DeSOTO, and IMPERIAL all with the new "sweptwing design" and even FORD with the new MERCURY with "dream car design", Cadillac still seemed a little behind in design. Not until 1959 would they make their statement and literally blow everyone else out of the water ! Even though I was only twelve and thirteen at the time, I loved that time of automobile designs. Today, unfortunately, they all seem to look alike.

Oh it is difficult to decide where to begin. The reason this car has four parking light relates to the fact that it most likely has the optional Fog Lights, In 1957 the rear bumper exhaust ports were functional as built. In 1958 they were dummies. Due to the design of the new "X" frame the trunk floor layout was very poor. On two door models the styling was well received. Unfortunately the 4 door Sedan DeVille and 62 four door hardtop were five inches shorter and presented a very unpopular stubby appearance. By the time this car was produced Hydra Matic had been in production since 1940 and successful provided millions of owner untold miles of enjoyable trouble free driving pleasure. At the time Hydra Matic was well known for it's durability, excellent performance, and fuel economy. As the producer of these video features you had an obligation to edit out the totally uninformed, negative, and completely inaccurate comments relative to Hydra Matic performance made by the owner in this presentation.
