I love the work I have a 55 with chevy drive train.More performance and reliability then stock. I also have all new custom frame and custom interior. I have to say if I could of got one with a coyote being a performance guy if I could afford it that's the way I would go.

Good to see a Ford engine being installed in the classic T-Bird.

The baby bird is an underrated car. Looks aggressive. Looks sleek and timeless. A true classic those 55-57 baby birds. 3,100 pounds from the factory. Tons of room under that hood for boost.

A good restomod eliminates all the drawbacks of owning a classic, mechanically obsolete musclecar. I love the fact that these things just seem to get more popular every day. Unless it’s something ultra rare and valuable, bone stock is not for me. Nice work Kevin. 🏆

If you did it again, would you have chosen a different (smaller) motor?
@V8TV2 жыл бұрын
This is a great question, Chris, and there are several things to consider. The power, performance, drivability, and economy of the Coyote is really hard to beat. Especially when you consider the interest of others when you pop the hood open. Can similar power be made with a 302 or Windsor V8? For sure. You could probably even do it with a turbo Ecoboost 6 cylinder if you really wanted to. But it's more than just the numbers. The low weight of the Coyote along with the factors listed above make it a great choice even if it's a bit wide in the hole. And besides, there's something about the lineage of Ford Overhead Cam V8s (like the 427 SOHC) that is pretty cool all on it's own. We'd happily do another, and actually have several lined up. Thanks!

As much as I acknowledge the excellent craftsmanship, I’m feeling very ambivalent about restomods. 🤨Nothing wrong about subtle upgrades but if taken to extremes, it’s basically an evisceration, keeping nothing but the car’s outer shell. In my mind, true appreciation of classic cars comes with a certain sense of responsibility for preserving and maintaining all of it, not just the shiny, convenient parts. It’s like saying “I adore cute minks and foxes so much! 🥰That’s why I had them made into a fur coat for me.”

How much does a project like this run? Ballpark?
@V8TV6 ай бұрын
The best way to look at these projects is to add up the projected parts list first, which comes directly from the customer's performance and feature requirements. We then inspect the vehicle to see what repairs & parts it will need in addition to the modifications. Once these lists are made, we can start to apply some hourly estimates to the project. This is a vague answer, but without a conversation about expectations and an actual car to look at, it's impossible to say what a custom build will cost. Give us a call or fill out the contact form and we can learn more of what you're envisioning and chat about the parts and time required. We love these conversations, it's always fun to chat about dream cars! www.v8speedshop.com 314.783.8325 Thanks for the question!

A beautiful car and a strong powerful motor what could go wrong. However it sounds like he’ll as most mustangs do. Am not fond of this ford power plants sound. Which it sounded like a Hemi.

I’m a millennial and this is like painting over a Monet bc it’s faded. The original is a piece of art and I think the modernization butchered the car. I’m well aware the wire wheels aren’t original either but they looked 100x better than the new rims. Baby birds aren’t meant to be customized bc they’re perfect as is.
@V8TV3 жыл бұрын
The wire wheels are in fact original to the car. Ever drive an original?
@joshuas82583 жыл бұрын
@@V8TV my dad has 3 and has restored hundreds. The wire wheels aren’t original…they’re reproductions of the 62/63 M-Series Roadster. 57 only had full wheel covers or hubcaps. 55-56 had full wheel covers, hubcaps or wire wheel covers…the ONLY ones that were original. I’ve driven dozens of 55-57 birds

I get great compliments on my custom T bird 55 changed eng drive train wheels frame popper doors . It looks more like a muscle car which is what I think it should of been. Now I have performance to back it up too.
