1958 BSA A10 TLS brake upgrade

I have an A10 with that brake and also a 1970 Land Rover on which I've upgraded the brakes. You can live with lower power of older vehicles but modern cars have such good brakes that drivers are used to stopping hard and assume you can do the same. The two upgrades I think really matter are better brakes and better lights, LEDs mean you can greatly improve the rear light brightness without needing more amps.

I remember a friend using a mini hydraulic brake plate inside a Ariel sq4 front brake. A remote cable operated master cylinder. With a black sheathed staines hose it was hard to see it was now a hydraulic brake. It worked very well.

I put this brake on my Road Rocket as well, but instead of adding to the brake plate, I had an extension welded onto the fork slider.

Yep, that works equally well. I just did it this way round so it was reversible if needs be, but I don't see me going back to the original brakes now.

It's not that it didn't have good brakes, it's more that it didn't do any braking whatsoever.. This is a good step...

I will admit it was more of a coast toward whatever you are trying to stop for than an actual stop.

Have TLS on my A7,it stops,not slows down..

Yes, mine was more of a gentle slow than a stop before the TLS!
