Well I get heartache for a 55 thru about 65 Buicks.I grew up in those learned to drive in those.A green and white 57 Century was my grandpas car that my first memory of sitting on his lap steering it.My moms red and white 58 Special standing on the trans hump in the back seat to look out the windshield.My first car a 63 skylark convertible.

Beautiful car...can't beat a '58 Buick. this car originally had air suspension but is now on coils. still has the compressor, and I think I saw the valves next to the spring cups. missing the accumulator tank. very few still on air. wasn't a bad system but beyond the capabilities of the service departments at the time.

Better off with spring conversion by far. But the compressor ought to be removed, too, as they can be problematic and serve no purpose with the rest of the system gone. That assembly can be replaced with a regular non-air PS pump, if you can find one.

Often we think we subconsciously make up sayings that we actually heard from years past. My dad had a 1958 Buick Roadmaster so that quote has always been locked into my consciousness

Electrology Now , Now that I think of it, it may have been “Time”, but it was a Best Of All Time & Worst Of All Time List, and unfortunately, the Roadmaster made the “Worst” list and I remember that distinct caption “It was the brontasourus of the chrome age”, and breaking my dad’s chops since he bought and drove back the ‘58 in 1977 from Arizona to Connecticut!

When the camera pans around the rear of the car, I don't see any backup lights. Surely this car would have had backup lights, yes? But WHERE are they? Can anyone find them?

Good catch. I didn't notice that so went back for another look. Backup lights were optional on the Super. The cut-outs in the rear bumper ends were blanked out if you didn't order them. This car has small series bumper ends on it! Totally incorrect. It's always something with a dealer car!

@@1940limited SO hard to imagine that a car named "Super" would not have (as standard equipment) backup lights !! Yikes!! Can you imagine NOT having backup lights on your car? You'd be totally naked and vulnerable to the darkness, you could bang into almost anything: fire hydrants, the car behind you when parallel parked, you name it ! ! This is a beautiful car, but if it has no backup lights, this car is way deficient. I can't even imagine such a snazzy car as this with no backup lights.

@@davesandler448 Maybe it had backup lights but they were deleted when it was restored and the rear bumper ends swapped out. There was an optional Safety Package that included backup lights and the red warning light when you set the parking brake. These were standard on the Roadmaster. The Super was an "entry level" big series car. Power brakes were also optional. Power Steering and automatic were standard. BTW I have a 58 Super that's backup light delete. When I was a kid I knew a guy who would step on his brakes to light up the stop lights and give him some vision while backing up!

mostly just trim bits between the senior Buicks...they all shared the same wheelbase and C-body roofline...same roofline as the Cadillacs and senior Olds. the junior buicks - the Century and Special, had a shorter wheelbase and the B-body roofline.

@@steves4639 Big series cars were an inch wider than small series, too. Roadmasters had more trim and a more plush interior with dual exhaust standard as well as windows and seat. No wheel well or rocker panel trim on the Super. Backup lights optional. Lot's of details.

The heater core's by-passed. That's a bit of a pain in the ass job, but not as bad as a speedometer. Can't tell if it's working or not on this one. Often times they don't. Trunk lining is incorrect, but acceptable. The right stuff is no longer available.

Yes, parts are harder & harder to find, and it’s even rare to see one at a car show. I traded a 49 Roadmaster for a 58 Super in 1961. What an upgrade!

Whatever someone is willing to pay. I saw one go for 40k a couple years ago. Back in 1961 I bought my 58 Super with low miles & very nice condition for $1,550 with a $278.00 trade.😅 that was big money then.
