I'm doing this project soon. Did you have issues getting the manifold bolts off?

There are retainer clips on the bolts that hold the manifold to the head, you just bend them back open with a flat screwdriver or needle nose pliers and use a 9/16 socket to loosen them. When reinstalling, torque then between 12-15 pounds and bend the bend the retainers back down until they touch the bolt heads to keep them from backing out/vibrating loose. Don’t use a manifold gasket. Manifold mounts directly to head just clean up each mounting surface. The flange bolts are a different story. They’re probably gonna rusted and stuck. Might want to heat em with a torch and still might end up breaking the mounting ear off anyway.

You didn't break any of the bolts off in the head? I subbed to follow your Buick project I have the exact same car I'm working on. Thanks for the information I appreciate it

@@AHFarms no problem man. Ask anything any time. Thanks for following. No I didn’t break any head bolts. They came out pretty easy. I guess because they aren’t torqued very hard. A little spray of PB blaster or WD 40 probably wouldn’t hurt though.

Love your videos! My 60 lesabre runs hot when idiling, crawled under the car to check the walve, sure enough it was rusted solid. Broke it loose and bended it so the biggest "weight" was pointing down. Do you think that is the closed or open position?

@@emilwaldner2196 I’m glad my videos entertain someone besides myself lol. I’m 30 miles from my car at the moment or I’d look. I can’t remember but I’m thinking the weight would look parallel to the flapper inside the manifold.
