Yes, this is the Cadillac that Gentleman Jim Reeves drove from the time it was delivered to him in May 1960 until his unfortunate death in a plane crash in 1964. Jim was a very well respected artist and part of the "Nashville Sound" of the day. After Jim's untimely death, his wife eventually sold his personal collection and the Cadillac to a close friend of Jim's. We have just brought the car out of long-time storage and restored what was necessary to share the car with the world and remind us all of one of the great song writers of the day. Hope you like the car, take a few minutes and listen to some of Jim's songs here on youtube. I have a short clip here on my channel of the car passing by my camera as we drove it back into the garage.
The Cadillac was entered in the 2015 Niello at Serrano Concours d'Elegance in El Dorado Hills Ca. And was awarded First in Class and was also presented the Honorary Judge's Trophy. Second in class was a 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz that I also did extensive restoration work on. The next show for Jim Reeves Cadillac will be at the Cadillac LaSalle Club Western Nationals in Las Vegas, Nevada April 13-16 2016 at be held at Suncoast Hotel Casino. Following this event, the car goes back in private collection. See you there!

I love the 1959-60 model year. The more I see of the 1960 I'm starting to appreciate it more to the '59's. Just steps back from the previous OTT a bit. It really is a refinement of a gorgeous design. 1961-2 as still attractive but they start to lose their elegance just a bit. 1960 was the perfect year.

Today's plastic junk? My seventeen year old Kia is still rust free, and runs like new. Not garage kept or overly maintained. Do you suppose much of this mass produced Detroit iron held up so well?

Marty Zielinski I agree I just sold my 2009 accord in 2017 and got half my money back. 50,000 miles all I did was replace a battery. Although classics like this are beautiful. You can't beat the tech and precision built eng/trans of today. They learned alot in the last 58 years.

I have a KIA too, and love it. But I never hold it at level of esteem as this Cadillac. A given car generally will hold up based on it's owner, though by the mid-1970's Cadillac's were no longer as well made as this one.

59 it was all about big fins and chrome and all out ostentatious. 1960 they refined it made it more elegant more flowing absolutely got it right for 1960. Then the designers went nuts again in 1961 and to add and fins everywhere.

I agree with you regarding the 1960 models. I've also loved the '61 and '62's but I look at them differently, as to me they carried a theme of being twenty foot pieces of jewelry. Whenever I stand close to a '61 or '62 I see a large piece of beautifully detailed jewelry.

I had seen a poorly done documentary (sensationalized) on this car, and have since thought it was just magnificent. It truly is a beautiful car, though I state this from the perspective that it's completely my taste. We need to respect his wife for taking excellent care of it, as I understand she drove and held on to it for a number of years after his passing. Thanks so much for doing this video.

WOW, thats amazing with pure class especially being original. What was the mileage? Similar to the 59 especially in the front, tall rear tail fins still present and look like a dagger. I agree that Cadillac in that time frame was the car to be judged by at least visually, i wouldnt want to be driving down some long and windy mountain road with all that weight and drum brakes but that was cars in those days. My Father had a 66 Toronado in similar color, we had a garage but once in a while he would part on the street and when i got picked up for school by the bus kids would be starring out the windows

Cadillac was pure class in the 50's and 60's, I love that color too, must look fantastic in the sun, my Dad had a 66 Toronado similar color, maybe a bit darker, its true design was more important than safety or gas mileage then but with beauty like that available I would just rather drive slow and steady than worry about 3 panic stops from 70 overheating the brakes

Bought mine used about 1964 in Anchorage, Alaska for $3200.00 from AK Sales & Service. Full leather interior and was being converted from air to spring suspension. I had it for a couple of years before I discovered the hidden button on the floor under the carpet you could change the radio stations with. Only one of 2 in Alaska but the other one was destroyed in the 1964 earthquake in Seward, AK. I sold it in 2013 for $3900.00 to a guy who took it to Fairbanks to restore.

How difficult is it to find or how difficult would it be to reproduce the '60 Biarritz/Seville specific side trim? I think it's one of the most special features of the car that really sets it apart, but I'm afraid it would be too difficult to find an unrestored Eldorado so I would love to incorporate it into a Coupe DeVille or Series 62 Coupe project.
@rarevhsuploads4995

By 1960 there were still folks that did not trust some of the available options. Cruise Control was certainly one of the last things that you wanted back then! A control that take over the speed? Preposterous! Jim's car was equipped with air suspension. But he had it removed by the dealer after many letters requesting it be resolved. All the letters will remain with the next caretaker of Jim's Eldorado. .

My Mom was in a serious accident in her 1963 Comet station wagon. After a hospital stay and extensive plastic surgery on her mouth, she said she would like to have a car again. My Dad decided it would be the heaviest car ever made. His research came up with the 1960 Cadillac at just under 6,000 pounds. I infrequently drove it from Phoenix to the U of A in Tucson. On the back road through Florence where there were very few cars I took it up to 105 mph. You had no feeling of speed it just floated on the road.

From what I can see,this example appears to be equipped with both factory AC and air suspension,meaning that it's a heavily optioned car - list price was probably in the $7000 - $7500 price range,which was fairly expensive in 1960... might even be a little more...
