This may be the sweetest 1960 Thunderbird I’ve seen in all of my 74 years. It’s fully loaded from the factory. I can’t imagine putting it in a barn for years. Job well done!

And to think, I owned one of these (1960) in bronze. What a car it was. Off-white leather seats, fantastically luxurious. I do not recall any yellow valve covers though. They were either chrome or black, not sure. I loved the tail end... right out of Flash Gordon. Only ever had two problems with it... fuel pump rod needed replacement... 50¢ part.... and air conditioning hose tore loose one hot day... sprayed the red coolant out through the hood air scoop... splashed up onto the windshield... OMG! I thought I’d hit a cow LOL! The one Sunday, oiut for a drive with my gal (now my wife) and got broadsided by a drunk driver! Too much damage to repair at that time. Scrapped the beautiful gal. Wish I still had her. Oh well. C’est la vie. ~Andy

Just a note about the 1960 tri-light rear . Some T-birds in ADs had no back-up light Lens . But it gets confusing since production records for Options show a huge number of 1960's with them while the numbers of T birds with no White lens are hard to find . Seems that the first batch of 1960's came with a Backup Light lens to simplify things as a Dead light unless the Back-up Options was selected to add the bulb to the wiring harness and transmission link for "R" . Some buyers thought that the light was defective and took it back to the dealer, but the remedy to appease the Buyer was to replace it with another Red lens if the car didn't have the back-up light Option. FORD started to used a Red Lens for all of the 6 units on T birds without the back up light option. Since almost every factory built and most Customer Ordered Tbirds had the option as well......it's now very tough to find a Build sheet from the original owner and the Purchase document to match the all RED tri-lights as from the Factory with a Code box Blank for the White Lens tip Option for the Bulb and Reverse link to come on when in "R" for the 3 spd and Automatic .

owned a 1960 from 1978-1985 & the fit on the trunk from a rear view was the same they did not fit correct, there was that separation in the panel when you looked at it from the rear. I had to replace the entire trunk pan, it was rotted out and the rear qtrs. A real rust bucket, sold it to a guy that was passing by, he saw it in my garage and made me an offer I couldn't refuse.Lost some money on that car but loved every minute I worked on it.

Owned a 58, 60, 64, 68 & 77 ( I bought new in 77, a demo) worse car mechanically was the 68, it was 2 years old when I bought it. It was beautiful... 2 door car (baby blue) but had to sell it, I couldn't keep it running it had the 429 thunderjet which was a disater back then. Would like to find one now as a project. The 64 was my favorite, yellow with Black int and had only 14K on the odom when I bought it in 1968, still had the pasitic on the back seat from the dealer.Had no air when I took it to Florida in 1969 so I traded it for the 68, big mistke!

Love these birds, I learned to drive on a '62. This one is a little disappointing, the beauty is there, but the paint cut n buff looks "back yard-ish" and the engine does not run as a fresh rebuild should... very rough on fast idle. (IMO and IME it's not only a lean mixture from being '"cold".. but when at indoor ambient temps the fast idle and rev should smooth out and it didn't.. a careless rebuild can run rough)

He forgot to mention that the 3 sp manual was standard and his Automatic was an option . His 352 would have a 3:10 rear axle ( 3:70 for a manual 3 spd ) , but he missed a few other option such as the Sun Ray wheel covers, dual outside mirrors, radio, seat belts ($ 22.50) , back-up lights ($ 9.50 ) , Leather interior Code 85 on door Tag for Trim ( $ 106.20) . That AC was $465.80 which was a big Option for a base car ( 63A) at $3755.00 , but to look at technology for Electronic after the big break though for transistors in 1957 to get smaller.... the old 6 tube radio was replaced for 1960 with a two transistor version at $112.80 while the Cruise o matic transmission was $242.00 . Check out the Option list for 1960 automotivemileposts.com/tbird1960optionalequipment.html

All three model years 58'-60' were available with overdrive for the manual column shift transmissions. The automatics were all 3 spds. All three models years came with 352/300 hp. std. or optional MEL 430/350 hp. option. Lincoln/Mercury offered the 430 MEL with 3 two bl. carbs which astonishingly raised the output to 400 hp.during the same time frame.

The year was 1972 I bought a 1960 baby blue T-Bird for $250.00 I was 19 the car was 12 years old it wasn't that popular then. It had a 352 V8. Cars were a good deal back then. Anyway being the youngster I was a motorcycle came along I had to have so $125.00 later it was gone. Replaced with a 1971 Triumph Trident. If you think that was nuts, I also got hold of a 1956 Mercury Monterey that belonged to a friends Grandmother. It was such a sweet car. I sold it to a hippie chic for $100.00 on her way to S.F.
