And here I thought all those wagons were crushed, sent to Japan, and came back as herds of Subaru. These were built before I was born, by a few years. I have fond memories, as a little boy, hanging around my Dad's repair shop and being completely fascinated by the design, style, and function of the 58-64 Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, and DeSoto's. There was nothing like them on the road. The first time I saw a long reach, ram, induction on a Chrysler 300, my jaw dropped. It was artwork even under the hood. My Dad had mechanics who were a rare breed who could tune those touchy engines for maximum performance. So many brought their high end cruisers to his shop. It was a good time to be a car crazy kid. And, as hard as I tried to find a 300 of that vintage in good shape by the time I turned 16, people had then squirreled away or they were all rusted out. So I settled for a 66, 440, HO, Chrysler 300 coup. To this day, I wonder the feeling of a short reach, cross ram, induction, of a 413, that produced 405 hp, in 1962..... Chrysler was an amazing company prior to 1974. So sad to watch it fade the way of Packard, DeSoto, and AMC. Just sad.

Wow, a stunningly beautiful New Yorker Town and Country with a 413, 9 passenger and dual air conditioning. Thanks for sharing this.

It is so rare to find a station wagon in such good condition. They typically get beat to hell by their original owners -- and were favored afterward as taxicabs.

As a teenager in college I car pooled using a wagon like this one. The dual air conditioning was welcomed on hot south Texas days.

Beautiful Chrysler and what a color combo! That plastic door pillar piece will interchange 1961-64 New Yorker and 1961-64 Dodge 880 4door hardtop wagon only. If you can find one of those for parts. Good luck...it's beautiful!!

which pieces are missing? I’m more familiar with Mopar wagons from 1966-1977 (my father traded every couple of years from the same dealership in Tyler, Texas, Holley Motor Company a full line Chrysler Plymouth Imperial Dodge and Dodge Trucks dealership) the dual air conditioning option was always the most fascinating to me since it was a Chrysler Corporation exclusive for station wagons and an engineering marvel at that time. I’ll certainly be on the lookout for the missing parts - this wagon also sports the first generation tailgate assist handles - another Chrysler Corporation exclusive- which continued being optional through the 1977 model year.

Notice the grill upper corners are missing. Rear trim on bottom of tailgate is missing. Backup lights fit but are not correct.

the front suspension is sprung incorrectly, hence" the lifted up" look, otherwise the car is splendid. Myself I had the 1962 Newport 4 dr. sedan, rather austere...
@rodneyracer7 ай бұрын
Front torsion bars were at the lowest setting possible. If the bar was placed in the next index, the front of the car would be on the ground and adjustment to raise it would be at maximum and still the car too low. We felt the car was at the absolute most reasonable height with this setting. Only option would be to start changing bars.
