1961 Miss. State @ Auburn

November 11, 1961 - Mississippi State pulls an 11-10 upset of Auburn in Birmingham, AL. The Maroons had not won an SEC game in the previous 22 attempts. With 2:42 left, Billy Cook scored a touchdown cutting Auburn's lead to 9-10. Then QB Charlie Furlow hit Johnny Baker for a diving catch in the back of the endzone to get the 2-pt conversion. After the 2pt conversion, State picked off Auburn and ran out the rest of the clock.

I listened to this game as a junior in high school, in Shreveport, Louisiana, barely picking up Jack Crystal's play-by-play on our car radio. I was elated, as all State fans were!
